Speakman and strikers

Amongst all the frothing over in recent weeks (which I certainly agree sith before the backlash starts). I think any sort of nuance to the whole debate has just disappeared.

Speakman wants to buy strikers, Mowbray has confirmed that we have made several bids for strikers in January and again this summer. It's not exactly Speakmans fault if the funding it takes to get these over the line simply isn't there from the powers that be. He comes out and makes excuses because what can he say without putting the blame on his boss?

Speakman spoke about wanting simms back in january and we were linked this summer but when the fee gets more than a couple of million, he doesn't have the money to bring these players in. We can't even keep our top striker because the club can't agree a deal with him financially for the last 12 months.

The funding is going to have to increase at some point if they're serious about getting promotion and the wage bill needs to align eventually with the top 10 of the league I reckon to have a real go.
Good post.

Can someone please correct me on this as I'm still a little baffled...

When KLD first took over, I read somewhere that if we got promoted from league 1 we'd have £60 million of funds. Does anyone else recall that? If so what's happened with that input of cash?

What you read was a small piece of gossip in a newspaper, it never was so nothing happened to it.

Tell you what let’s get the lad fit, sod him, keep him on his current contract and lose him for next to nothing in Jan or for literally nothing next summer!
I believe TM said that the phone wasn't ringing off the wall with enquiries for Stewart, so we may have no choice.

If we offer Stewart a contract now, bearing in mind that TM said his agent thought he had Mbappe on his hands, and Stewart can't replicate his previous form. Then we might end up £5/6 million down, and a player we can't sell.

Money talks and bullshit walks.

And weve walked from every striker inquiry since they arrived.

Bizarre as they seem excellent at every other position.

Is your favourite band Simple Minds? They are not the only scenarios.
Scenario 4 we raise the threshold and every bugger demands some
Scenario 5 he refuses any because he wants to go to Stoke or rangers
Scenario 6 we pay him a fortune and he’s never available through injury

Scenario 7 The injury has a long term effect, and he's simply not the player he was.

Brutally, we'd be idiots to move on his contract until he demonstrates he has the same ability as before.
What is the running cost of the club for a year Including players wages?

£5m more than the income.

Nobody has suggested over spending, but if you want to progress you have to roll the dice sometimes.
Nobody is suggesting not spending either. Bad result and people want us to roll the dice. That’s over spending. Dress it up however you like. Overspend on one, you end up saying well we did it last time. Sounds like you want SD back getting desperate.
£5m more than the income.
Mental people can’t grasp this like.

Tom Cannon still hasn’t signed for anyone yet.

Apparently Wednesday this week is decision day for his loan destination.

PNE still favourites but if we could tempt him here at least he’d be ready to go straight into the side. If playing time is important to him we could pretty much guarantee it !

They spend £100k a week of their own money covering losses and keeping the club afloat tbf.
Should they not speculate to accumulate, you say they were putting in 5.2m a year so over last 2 years 10.4m, bought club for (40m) approx, now club is worth at least twice as much, nice profit so far. That is how most businesses work now. Also if they employed a COMPETENT person to run the retail / commercial side of the club, they could of made a lot more money even just ordering more shirts for sale, better hospitality etc.

We love a loan

Don't mention the possibility of selling Clarke or everyone will get out the pitchforks.
It's not the sale that bothers people but the price quoted from Burnley. Everyone accepts if acceptable offer (Going rate for similar players) is placed, player will go, But would be pi**ed if club just bent over and accepted any offer that would make even a small profit.
