Speakman and strikers

Amongst all the frothing over in recent weeks (which I certainly agree sith before the backlash starts). I think any sort of nuance to the whole debate has just disappeared.

Speakman wants to buy strikers, Mowbray has confirmed that we have made several bids for strikers in January and again this summer. It's not exactly Speakmans fault if the funding it takes to get these over the line simply isn't there from the powers that be. He comes out and makes excuses because what can he say without putting the blame on his boss?

Speakman spoke about wanting simms back in january and we were linked this summer but when the fee gets more than a couple of million, he doesn't have the money to bring these players in. We can't even keep our top striker because the club can't agree a deal with him financially for the last 12 months.

The funding is going to have to increase at some point if they're serious about getting promotion and the wage bill needs to align eventually with the top 10 of the league I reckon to have a real go.
We need a DM as much as a striker and aren’t linked with any. Much bigger concern for me

I don't think the issue is whether the investment will increase, it's where that comes from. So I think it'll increase but only insofar as profits on player sales are made. It'll be a slow burn and people will get frustrated I expect but there we are - it's not going to be big bets.

In a nutshell. We have to grow the revenue.

Cost / funding is definitely an issue. Whether we are being sensible and everyone else is nuts we’ll find out over time. Other than the parachutes can’t imagine we are bringing in less than competitors in this division.

Absolutely. How the club believe they are going to get a proven half decent CF for a few million pound is beyond me, you just have to look at some of the recent Championship CF transfers to realise that, Simms being a good example. If the club’s stance is to bring in yet another unknown kid from abroad (having already signed two) for me is a huge mistake.
Pleased someone's finally had the guts to highlight the striker situation.

Being going on about it for months mate, accused of being doom and gloom!

This and we've probably spent the most out of the none parachutists.
Just not necessarily on our top priorities

Think they were being ironic

Ross Stewart:

Scenario 1 Someone comes in for him in Aug with a low bid, we accept it and he has gone.

Scenario 2 He returns from injury in Sept hopefully plays the remainder of the season, but he refuses to sign the contract bring offered and leaves the club on a free at the end of the season.

Scenario 3 We pay for me the best CF in the Division the difference in what he wants to what the club have offered. He is now under contract, he scores goals, if he leaves in the Summer any club wanting him will have to pay a significant fee for him, or we keep him.

In summary not giving him a new contract will mean we will lose him for nothing. Stewart is a class act get him fit motivated and we might get in the play offs.

Is your favourite band Simple Minds? They are not the only scenarios.
Scenario 4 we raise the threshold and every bugger demands some
Scenario 5 he refuses any because he wants to go to Stoke or rangers
Scenario 6 we pay him a fortune and he’s never available through injury

We are averaging the largest gates in the Championship . Better than some Prem. teams. Yet we cannot afford modest outlays for quality. What am i missing ?The cash is coming in ,the crowd want success and are saying as much with the ticket sales. Don't throw away an oportunity to build on this.HTL .

We have with lihadji
So should see movement this week

I have no idea how much we received for the lad, I can only assume it'll be chump change in regards to our losses but yea, hopefully, it'll help with something in the coming weeks.

Speaking to a chap who changes quotes.

It's Mowbrays fault
None of the young lads playing in midfield have sufficient experience to play the DM role successfully.

Look at Evans - as an athlete he can’t hold a candle to the likes of Ekwah and Bellingham but he looks far more capable of playing that role as he reads the game so well.
Mowbray has been asking for a replacement for Evans the day after he got injured, still waiting......
