Spain to Portugal



Spain used to run on the Iberian Gauge tracks only. They've since started building Standard Gauge tracks so that it can link into the rest of the European network. Portugal runs both gauges too so crossing to Spain isn't a problem as long as there's a track to do so.
The mainline train that ran out of Porto through to southern France has long had standard gauges. The line that ran from Algericas to Lagos in the Algarve was on two differnt gauges & involved changing trains at the border.............last time I was there anyway
 
Got a mate that travels all over Europe every year by trains and the like think he uses an app called loco2.
Dunno how good it is but maybe worth checking out
