Spain passes law giving menstrual leave

That's not misogyny! A small business owner may not be able to afford to employ someone who's going to take extended time off, the business owner has to put hard economic facts ahead of someone else's family planning. It's not hatred of women, it's a sad fact of life. Real life is rarely fair.

If the business owner said he wouldn't hire a woman because he doesn't like them, that would be misogyny.

As for 'women with penises', well, they're not women, and it's insulting and demeaning to real women to claim they are, IMO.
They're trans women, nothing wrong with that, provided they're genuine and not jumping on the bandwagon for attention or nefarious reasons.

The poster was referring to delusional people born as fully intact males jumping on the trans bandwagon claiming they get period pains, use sanitary products and suffer from PMT. That is a bridge too far for me, it's nonsense. Identifying as a women doesnt make you one, and it's doing the genuine trans community no favours.

Probably the most sensible post I’ve ever read on here

Cracking post marra, well said.

When I had periods I used to get them bad, but I don't get them anymore as I take a 28 day pill (I take it as a surveillance tool, being afflicted by lynch syndrome can lead to womb cancer so if I bleed I need to get checked out).
Periods can be truly f***ing horrible, I used to hate having them as I was always worried about the show through possibilities.
Women are mint, if we weren't here the world would stop turning.

It’s a horrible thing for a woman to go through. Even worse for a bloke when in the same home.

Erm. Works both ways…😂

Yup we can get angry / irritable anarl. I'm not sure if I need to keep taking the pill as I may be starting the menopause, I may ask for a blood test to check.
Being a woman sucks, I'd have been a much better bloke tbh

Maybe it's even worse for a bloke that identfes as a lass. We just don't know these days.
Or a non binary, dare I mention it…

No one is saying they aren't painful but to be allowing days off work and fully paid for it is just absurd.
It's a law that people are going to take complete advantage of.

Last year I missed 8 days off work with Bronchitis and the flu, I'm a teacher and wasn't able to do my job. According to the law, I don't/didn't get paid for the first three days and after the 4th day I got 60% of my salary as they're considered common illnesses and not work related illnesses.

At the same time, a colleague tested positive for Covid, his only symptom was a runny nose. 7 days on the sick and full pay.

🤷

I'm not advocating leave tbh.

Look after your staff and your staff will look after you.

All this talk about the poor business owners, but lets not forget its the staff that creates the wealth, we are seeing it now people complaining about a lack of staff stopping growth, so all this talk about not taking on a women as she might have a child or be off ill with a bad time of the month is crazy when we are lacking people to employ in the first place.

I would rather have a hard working woman, who maybe off now and then, than some of the blokes I have worked with over the years, guess we have all worked with the "looks busy but does nothing" type of bloke or the lads who plan to have a dump during work hours, getting paid for sitting on the throne, how many work hours are lost to that per year!!

Even worse for a bloke? You’re going to have to show your workings out on that one.
Every proper bloke understands.
Give over. And no, happily married for more than half my life, and lived in the same house as my wife and daughter, so I know being a bloke is a hell of a lot easier than being a woman when it comes to the time of the month.
Fooling no one.
Happy days marra, you may move on.👍
They even lie to themselves these people.

Think you give a fascinating answer mate, playing devils advocate here but do you not think there could be women born genetically male but believe they were born in the wrong body? 🤔
That's covered in my answer, mate - the genuine trans people I mentioned! It's definitely a genuine condition.

Ha'way man, it was said in jest.

Sounds like a good idea, I can see it impacting on promotion opportunities if someone was to be taking leave for this kind of thing often though.
Welcome to the world of being a woman.
Well if we're going down this route, do you think folk with medical or mental issues shouldn't be employed..?
Those wheelchairs really get in the way of people doing a good job, man!

I find it very telling that SMB doesn’t seem to think that a small business owner could ever be a woman of childbearing age themselves.

Very good point, fact is in my family my wife has the career and is the bread winner, I was the stay at home dad, doing "woman's" work as I was told, It really doesnt matter who does what, so long as it works.
