Spain passes law giving menstrual leave

This is dangerously close to "a woman's place is in the kitchen".
If it is your money on the line and one person is 25% 33% or 50% of the workforce then those sort of things take a back seat. Unless the woman is exceptional.

Either way it does make it harder for women.

Isn't what hes saying is it, he's saying it will put off some business owners which it absolutely will.
Oh. Hello.

So do crippling cramps once a month. ;)

if they fully disclosed that before employment it might put off small business owners taking them on?
If I was a business owner of a small firm I would be extremely wary. Not saying it is right but it is understandable.
Pretty sure it's illegal unless there's a valid and justifiable reason.
I'm also starting to get the impression that a few folk think they're going to off for days at a stretch every couple of weeks.

Aye and in an ideal world they would be paid and no business would struggle, reality isn't like that though.

I've heard a similar argument before for not closing tax loopholes in the UK because it wouldn't attract businesses.

Anyway I suspect this is one where two sides are just facing off and I can't be arsed today particularly. Apart from Harry who just faces off because he's bored.

Many things are illegal but difficult to prove. loads of people do not advertise for staff but get them through word of mouth. You have two years to bin anyone for any reason, so the malingerers will probably be somewhere else before then.

I'm not saying it is right or equitable and a business owner will probably miss out on some good candidates but it is understandable.

If a tax measure ends up taking less tax overall what would be the point?

I agree with you on every angle of fairness, equity and morality but many small businesses cannot afford passengers.

i dont want any woman in pain and discomfort at work and in an ideal world id like to see such a law implemented. Maybe start with businesses over a certain size and small businesses is paid or subsidised by the government?

Hopefully doesn't exclude those who have transitioned to female and find themselves experiencing real and true painful periods.
If anything, judging by the comments on here, the SMB small business owners will be falling over themselves to hire the trans lot as they won’t be running off getting preggers, off with periods and no menopausal issues but still present a pretty face to the public. ;)
