Southgate confirmed to stay.

Personally I’m nuts so I’d go for Bielsa would be extremely entertaining we would certainly attack a lot. Just score more than the other team.
Hmmmmm. Nivver occurred to me. I can’t see the FA having him after him being caught hiding in the bushes at Frank Lampards Derby County mind.

There's always someone who knows exactly what's wrong and screams about it. But when asked about the solution they hide away.

If you don't know enough to suggest the next manager you certainly don't know enough to criticise the current manager.

It’s crackers man. It was the only group where all 4 teams were ranked in the world top 20 and we qualified with the best record out of everyone. We then won our last 16 game 3-0 and lost a QF in an excellent game by a fine margin to the world champions.

So it’s not possible for anyone to identify a problem without knowing a solution?

whoosh shirley?

No mate and the way they're speaking, it seems they're considering adopting an accession approach to the role whereby the heir to Southgate's titles and estate will become the next England manager, so likely his son if he has one, regardless of his age.

The team and his tactics , always safety first, shit scared of losing against the better teams,I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory having given it a go, than continuously coming out with I'm so proud of the boys for getting beat again.

That’s not what happened against France. We weren’t negative, we didn’t sit back and he picked a well balanced side. He’s got some really good players at his disposal but some quite moderate ones too.

England supporters are guilty of overrating the depth of quality players we have whilst underrating the manager.

"He has the best record" "We were a Kane penalty away from the semi"

He has won nothing. We were in front against Croatia. We failed. We were in front against Italy at home. We failed. We've gone from the Nations League finals to being relegated in less than three years. And one penalty away from the semi final? You do realise it would have made it 2-2 and not the actual winner.

If you are happy with the same cycle of qualifying easily then winning against poor teams before losing the big tests then by all means you accept it. But just like the last "golden generation" if we don't win it when it really matters then its still harping on about 1966.

Seriously m8.

Who has a better record than him and is available? (Any of the final 8 managers in the WC for example?)

Would you be happy with Walid Regragui? Why not - he went further than Southgate did.

Why would your choice be an improvement on Southgate? What would change?

It's easy to post mindless criticism but I'd be happy to entertain serious suggestions backed up with reasons why they would succeed where Southgate hasn't.

Kane scores that pen and there's a good chance we'd be playing in the World Cup final tomorrow. I'll take that over getting dumped out in the second round by Iceland, which is the situation Southagte inherited.
He fucked up v Italy & fucked v France
We look better but Southgate is a defence first manager cautious by approach
With that squad we should be doing better

 He took our best player off in Saka who was the only player terrorising their defenders, and brings on Mount who is one of the most overrated and negative players ever to play for England.

So you think that Mowbray would have delivered more at major tournaments than Southgate has ?

We’re talking about domestic management, which Mowbray has been more successful at.

Southgate has done nothing to suggest he’d be a better manager, or even equal to Mowbray domestically.

Absolutely this squad is nowhere near as good as some of the squads from 96 to 2006 particularly defensively yet listening to some Southgate is wasting a once in a generation chance. It’s nonsense.

I think he fucked v Croatia and Italy but not sure about France. How did he fuck it up?

I'd go for Thomas Tuchel. He's proven at winning things.

I think he'd be brave and make the right tactical decisions and the right times.

His record on paper looks good (Southgate this is) but ultimately he fails everytime when it truly matters.
didnt we beat Germany in the euros?

Yes we did but would you really class them as an elite team these days.

France are simply a better team and potentially the only team with a stronger pool of players to pick from. Had we finished 2nd in the group, I think we would have made the final.

He wasn’t at the time he was taken off.

Nevertheless, we could look at some of the world’s best coaches and they’d probably fall at a similar stage. Has Guardiola, who is considered the best, done particularly well on the European stage in knock out football? How many attempts has he had with superb quality at his disposal without victory? Has Pochettino got any of his clubs over the line in European knock out football?

Fact of the matter is, we’ve possibly four players that would definitely get into the starting XIs of top international sides. That means quarter finals to finals is our level. We’ve achieved that and got within a kick of a trophy under Southgate.

I think he might have reached his shelf life, that happens under all managers, and I think it’s the right time for a change because any slip up will turn toxic sharpish. But I’m far from convinced that any coach in world football is going to come in and improve our fortunes markedly

Who’s talking about domestic management ?? The thread is about him staying on as international manager

Great kop out.

"I wouldn't start from here."

Hardly a kop out. Do you think we’ll win a tournament under Southgate?

I think it’s more of a kop out to be “happy with our lot” considering it’s the best set of players we’ve had for a long time.
