Southgate confirmed to stay.

He was injured in the Leicester game before the world cup. Wasn't available at all initially:

Fresh Maddison injury update emerges ahead of England vs USA World Cup clash

Having 26 man squads meant teams could pick risk players who weren't initially fit. Even if he was fully fit, he was always a fringe player in the squad.

I can't argue with that other than saying that there's a limit to the number of big ponds. He should have gone to Man City in 2021 if he wanted trophies.
Get a life man
😂

Feel like we have beaten the teams you would expect us to beat and lost to the teams you would expect us to lose to

Bit of both. Imo they’re both doing great jobs in their respective jobs and wouldn’t want either of them to leave.
Southgate has some of the best players in Europe at his disposal but still couldn't fashion a team get past the quarters. But like you say it's also a relief that your manager gets left alone.

I'm into this like.
He does a good job. We've went from the McClaren Capello Hodgson era to world cup semi defeats and euro final defeats on pens being not good enough.
Never once heard a viable suggestion as a replacement either

Examples?
Now Southgate must go further – and make no mistake, he knows it – and it would be crushingly disappointing if France in Al Khor is listed alongside Germany in Bloemfontein, Portugal in Gelsenkirchen, Portugal in Lisbon, Brazil in Shizuoka, Argentina in Saint-Etienne, West Germany in Turin, Argentina in Mexico City and so on as venues where England have fallen short in knock-out ties against other so-called ‘big nations’ in world football. They must eventually beat one of them in a tournament, away from home, surely?

Should have stepped aside for someone else to have a go. Can't see us winning anything with him.

This is the correct decision because we don’t have someone who wants the job and who we can bring in.

He’s also the most successful England manager since Ramsey.

Robson is revered by a lot for getting a semi which he lost on pens. Same with Venables.

Southgate’s record is semi, final, quarter.

International management is a lot different, only a few can cross the divide. Scolari, Del Bosque, Enrique off the top of my had have had success in both areas..

So previous managers failings are a criticism of Southgate?
