Southerners still welcome in North East?

As if a brand new poster would wade in like that
Do you consider yourself a Southerner?

When I was living in Scotland I never thought of myself as Scottish. Odd for someone from South Shields to identify as being a Southerner just because they live in the Midlands.

As an aside, I’ve also never met someone from the Midlands who describes themself as a southerner.

Na. Lived in the West Midlands since 1985 and never once considered it to be “The South”. Go anywhere down London and they all think Brum is aap Norrf.

I still consider myself as from the land of the yackers

I'm was born in Sunderland, raised in Yorkshire but I live in Sunderland now. I'm a st holder in the same section for years, same lads and lasses are there every match. About 3 years ago around Christmas hols matches a lad who I'd never seen before was sat next to us and kept on asking about my accent as if to insinuate I was an away fan with a home ticket.
I humoured him for a bit but eventually I said I'm from here, this is my seat and if you were here more often you'd know this. He piped down and stopped bothering me.
That's the only issue I've had with my accent and I've followed the lads home and away since the 90's

I'm a Sunderland supporter from South Shields living in Birmingham.

Lived outside the area all my adult life.

All I've had since coming on here today is HATRED.
Found this forum via SAFC.

Won't be recommending it to anybody in future.
You are most welcome on here. We have fans from all over the world on here and not just Sunderland fans, all are welcome.

Of course there are some knackers on here, but the vast majority of posters are sound.

Where in South Shields are you from and why did you move away?

Do you get to any of our games?

I’m from Ashington, the missus from Liverpool, kids born in North London and Watford and live in St Albans.

Felt welcome (or maybe tolerated!) whether up North or doon Sooth. Be friendly and welcoming and be welcomed is my experience.

Love coming back yem, appreciate it more having been away.

Depends who you interact with, there’s some great people on here and some absolute helmets.

Not sure what has gone on you didn’t venture into the politics forum did you?

I was in St Albans for the play off final, lovely place.

I see you visited the Politics subforum straight away. There lies your mistake.

Best to leave that subforum to the other 7 people that post there.

So because somebody on a forum has said something nasty to you, its put you off returning to your homeland

Get a grip man and take it like a man and better still give them grief back

You do realise there is grown men and woman on here admitted to all sorts of crazy things, including showering with dogs !!!!

So if your unhappy cos someone has not been nice to you then i dont think this is the place for you :)

The proper mentalists on there follow you onto the main boards to track what you do/say then commit it to their secret stasi file for later use.

Paranoid eh who me? Never. Who said that?

I think the problem is, new members won’t always know how to handle this board and the aggressive nature of the posts and could take it personally.

It’s easy to underestimate it when you’ve been using the site for a while.

Looking at his post history, he went on the politics subforum and posted something neutral and got a backlash, it shouldn’t be that way and doesn’t happen in the real world.

Even if this is an alter-ego, it’s something people using the site should consider.

The politics forum is the den of all things evil.
It does keep the mutants in one place which can only be a good thing.

Anyone venturing out posting political threads in the main forum should get their balls chopped off or fanny glued shut.

I can relate to that.
I was at the derby at SOL in Feb? 2002 and obvs being from Jarra I don't sound like a Mackem, anyhow, I'm recovering form Chickenpox and got a face like a half pound of peanut brittle so I've got a big coat on, scarf up above my nose and baseball cap pulled right down....still not even 75% and probs shouldn't have gone, but it's the skunks and I deperately want Super Kev to bang a few past Funky Given

I takes my seat in the west stand lower tier, about level with the pen spot north end, next to this fuckin awful smelling goth lass who was about 20 clem and this utter gobshite on my other side, he's got a mouth full of teeth like a witch doctors necklace and is screaming abuse at the Mags...none stop by the way, and talking pure shite in between.........I'm just ignoring him and after about 5 minutes he turns to me in a really thick Mackem accent and goes "Here, you're not a Mag in disguise are you"......I pulled my scarf down revealing less than perfect complexion and said "no, I've got chickenpox and you're giving me a bad head with your non-stop shite"
His face.....he was horrified......I was a bit offended actually because I'm a good lookin fucker really.😁
