south stand vote once and for all

Stand, 21. But as I'm in the East stand, I sit.

Also, you need to get over the fact that although there is a rule saying you must sit, standing as the South stand does is not unsafe. In the ten years I've been going away, I've stood at countless matches. One person to a seat, standing in front of it is no less safe than sitting.

I understand the argument that it's harder to ensure everyone stays in their seat if people are standing, but could it honestly be said that that particular issue is relevant to the South stand debate?

And yes, it's crap if you want to sit and your view is blocked. But it isn't hard to ask the club to get you a different seat.

I think half the problem with the atmosphere, or lackthereof, is that we haven't been playing very well this season. I'm sure it'll pick up a lot of the players start to perform and we get results.

I was told by the club they'd move me free of charge if required. It hasn't been required. It seems they're being a bit arsey with others saying they need to pay £25 though which is a bit unfair.

I really think this is most of the problem.

It's in the rules to sit, so sit, or don't moan like a little chav bitch when you get kicked out.

If we won all of our remaining matches, and won the league on the last day of the season, the thread with the most replies the next day would be regarding stewards and standing.
FACT.

Oh and Im 55.

SWC, mind. But:

Both, 26.

Luckily enough to be in a position where I can see the pitch from a seating position even if those around me are standing - Sit on an aisle seat so just need to adjust body position.

Stand for the majority but sit during HT/lulls in play. Often work before/after game so usually in work shoes so me feet f***ing kill. I quite like having the option of both.

I'm not pro/anti standing as I've done both home and away for years. It's the persons choice. I won't stand if it's obvious my doing so will block the view of someone unable to stand for long periods - elderly person or kid or if I'm near the front and those around me are sitting.

Most people need to just use common sense rather than getting all worked up over it. There's more important things in life than standing/sitting at a f***ing footy game.

The question should have been, do you stand or sit? Followed by does standing affect your view at home games. I'll bet 95% are no where near the fans that stand anyhow.

There are people on here who are extremely against standing even though they don't attend the games.

Therefore what's the issue?

29 stand!

In the seated areas.
Never seen anyone against so called safe standing

This...

I would welcome/applaud a safe standing area with proper safety barriers, where the needs of all fans could be catered for in an organised manner. But there isn't one ATM.

So putting it politely, please sit down everyone....

Nah

Did you not;

Anyone who disagrees with you is a child, yet the rules don't apply when you want to stand?

Good point. Also, coming to a conclusion before had responses to your question sounds like a waste of time to me.

You can all stand if you want, I'd prefer to sit (32). My vocal chords work the same whether seated or otherwise. I really wish the club had been clearer about how they would enforce the rules with the new end, as I had assumed we would copy Man City in taking a more relaxed approach to the singing end.

I hope all these people banging on about how we should not be standing as it's against the rules, celebrate goals sat down.

Totaled the votes so far. Tried to exclude ones I thought were a joke, eg. stand 104.

So far

STAND 25
SIT 7

perfect 4:1 ratio, put all the sitters in the east stand and the other three can be standing

Some of those sits have come from people in other parts of the ground as well. You know who you are you little rascals.

Where did you learn Maths?

ok mr pedantic 3.6:1 now run off and inform the internet police

I feel for modern day younger fans who have never been brought up with Terrace football so I can understand them wanting to stand, however not at the expense of a.) the view of others who pay hard earned money to watch a match, and b.) if its going to mean SAFC breach H&S conditions and get fined.

If you make a safe standing area, a lot more people will want to join in and where do you stop?
Seating has been a part of football stadia since Hillsbrough, surely you have got used to that fact by now?

PS I MISSED GERA goal cos I was too busy watching stewards trying to do their job in the interests of safety and being villified for it

36 SIT
