thanks for your continued support
well supporting Shields on facebook and Pure Fo0tball
commendable really
Are you going to Chelsea mate? The away end might be looking a bit sparse as I was told the stadium of light would be empty without shields support. So I presume Stamford bridge will be a bit desolate. Is he the Merry Mariner?
Great stuff what a day yesterday and cannot wait for Wembley up the Mariners !!
Andy, yes - you can book for the specific Shields area. Each team at Wembley that day has an allocated area. Book early to avoid disappointment ! I'll pm you as well.thank you
there's a few things remaining I want to see in my lifetime
and Shields playing at Wembley is one of them
it's a beautiful game
if you book them online are you guaranteed that it's a shields area in the stand?
A very similar footballing history to myself (I think that I must be a couple of years older). My Granda started to take me in about 1960 and then I would go with some mates. When you consider that several (perhaps a dozen ?) 'Football Special' buses used picked up supporters from all of the relatively small town of South Shields and then return them after the matches, it evidences how much football was an essential part of the fabric of the town.the OP has been a Sunderland fan for nearly fifty years and a South Shields fan for fifty three years
Simonside Hall was the first ground I went to as a five or six years old. Been to over 5o grounds watching Sunderland.
Supporting Sunderland has been and remains wonderful but testing at times. This season has been horrendous. Next season will be too.
Forgive me for having some football hope.
I'm looking forward to going to the vase final just as much as I did the Man City final. Though to be honest the 73 final will unlikely to be ever beaten.
What you looking forward to Gipetto?
No, just looked and you can still definitely book tickets for the allocated Shields area. Scroll down the list of areas on the FA ticketing websiteJust been on the FA website, and it's only offering tickets in the Cleethorpes area - sold out already?
I think I am mate. Few of the lads going to Wembley including me Fatha-doesn't interest me.Are you going to Chelsea mate? The away end might be looking a bit sparse as I was told the stadium of light would be empty without shields support. So I presume Stamford bridge will be a bit desolate.![]()
Are the club going to make an official announcement about ticketing soon ?Great stuff what a day yesterday and cannot wait for Wembley up the Mariners !!
Was talking with @TerrysChippie to see if their Eddie was putting the minibus on but apparently Sue's not best suited as being a massive lass lads fan wanted to go to Chelsea and up west. Still waiting to hear back tbh.I think I am mate. Few of the lads going to Wembley including me Fatha-doesn't interest me.

Will John Rundle be getting special seats?Great stuff what a day yesterday and cannot wait for Wembley up the Mariners !!
Did your dad work at Austin & Pickersgill?A very similar footballing history to myself (I think that I must be a couple of years older). Simonside Hall was a brilliant experience for a young lad. A relatively large crowd, a team that was made up of fairly local lads (for example, my Dad used to work with Gerry Donaghue ,the team's midfield dynamo), the opportunity to be able to walk around to the opposite end so that you could be close when your team scored, climbing in from the adjacent school field when you didn't have the couple of bob admission (or needed it to go towards that Jethro Tull album you wanted) These things are important experiences in my life.
Yes, it was always great to get on the bus and make my way to Roker Park to watch the likes of Hurley and Anderson and Montgomery. But it was a completely different experience to going to Simonside Hall. Because of the difference in scale, Roker Park was awe-inspiring for a 7-8 years old lad and a bit scary. As I got older, there was also a greater dislocation with what was going on. At Sunderland, your contribution to the vocal support was lost among tens of thousands. At South Shields there was a felling that your shouts of encouragement would be heard and heeded as an individual request for effort.
Nostalgia is great isn't it ? Mind you, it's not as good as it used to be.
Then never bother with pub football againWhole town will be buzzing for a month.
20,000 Sandys to converge on Wembley.
It's football dreamland.
What a beautiful game.

Embarrassing really.Did you see how empty the SOL was yesterday? Atleast 1000 regulars were at Shields instead.
Embarrassing really.
