Just seen that there are going to be redundancies there.
Anyone know why?

I presume it will be due to falling student numbers but half way through the term seems odd

It’s getting knocked down and moving into the town centre I believe. Might be a smaller operation as a result. Ergo - less staff needed.

I don’t know this but perhaps they will be offering a smaller academic package.

More targeted at the current youth demands and possibly less vocational courses.

Madness if so. Theres never been a higher demand for trades, certainly young ones coming into industry.

It’s a Labour council.

Try as they might, the secondary schools in South Shields just couldn’t get their youngsters ready to read things like ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘Hairy McLairy’ which are essential texts at South Shields college.

Demand tailed off massively.

Happens all the time and its sister college tyne met college. (Was north Tyneside )
they already closed what was Tyne mouth college
