How could you possibly know that?
I’ve supported Sunderland for 40 years and knew plenty of them, and seen many over the years

I sometimes go and watch Pools if we're away and I've not gone. But if I ever did stop going to SAFC I wouldn't take up going to watch Pools home and away claiming to be a fan, which seems as though a lot of ex SAFC and mags now do at Shields.I'm from Shields but I'm a Sunderland fan. I know loads of people who go to watch them if we're not playing or are away. Same with Newcastle supporters who live in the area. I personally don't bother going, but I've got no problem if people want to take in a match at a decent level, have a nice afternoon out and help a local club.
Went to 2ndary school there in 85 for a couple of yrs, and full of York / Leeds fans. Maybe it's changed.I work in York and I have never encountered this tbf! Most york fans I know cant stand Leeds due to wo many jumping on the Leeds bandwagon in the city when they start picking up.
Agreeing with you marra
Or the Store Hall in Jarrow in the 60'sNot if ye went to the Cat in the 80's....
Not for me but back in the day there was a lad on Facey kept banging on about safc right up to 2015I’m not saying that, of course there’ll be some
But to use words like disillusioned and glory hunters is completely wide of the mark
Probably more like fans who are from South Shields who want to follow their local club which is arguably far more personal
I think that’s the point, why stop supporting Sunderland?
Good to see you using your loafI’ve supported Sunderland for 40 years and knew loafs of them, and seen many over the years
None of my mates have. The only possible reason I could offer if some do, is due to the cost maybe? Disillusionment with the game at a higher level as a whole?I sometimes go and watch Pools if we're away and I've not gone. But if I ever did stop going to SAFC I wouldn't take up going to watch Pools home and away claiming to be a fan, which seems as though a lot of ex SAFC and mags now do at Shields.
Surely it's still true you cant change your Team
Or the Store Hall in Jarrow in the 60's
So you not sponsoring them now then?Just a bunch of newcastle fans who have become “disillusioned” with modern football and have tried to glory hunt and think it’s cool to support them. Evident last night of all the talk around Rafa, Bruce, the fake sheik, singing Shearer songs and the hate for the Sunderland players.
Change my mind.
Not Sunderland fans then ! Their new 'passion' for a non league team with money being hoyed at it shows them for what they are. If it goes belly up they'll have to find a new team to hang on to.
Do you think 75% of Shields fans there last night were ex-SAFC?
Like I said that’s what it sounded like to me, but it does prove the mags were there. No there wasnt. That sprang up because some mags started singing Newcastle songs. It was actually 'you sad geordie bastards get out of our club'.
correct...but that doesnt get likes on hereI don't think that is what they were chanting, they were pointing at an individual who was escorted away by police, and telling that person 'get out of our club'. That was my view of it anyway.
Don't know what caused the furore.
That’s what I was replying to, and you decided to comment on it. Life’s priorities do change, but to be labelled as ex-SAFC is sad.Don't know, don't care, I never quoted 75% all I said was I can think of loads of reasons why people would give up on Sunderland (or any other team).
Life's priorities change over the years. I've seen many a keen fan who would do all home and away games for a long period just pack in all together. It's their choice
So what were they saying?I enjoyed standing in the marquee drinking listening to a father and son Shields supporters discuss Steve Bruce without laughing.
