South Shields fans

I don't think that is what they were chanting, they were pointing at an individual who was escorted away by police, and telling that person 'get out of our club'. That was my view of it anyway.

Don't know what caused the furore.
The chant was definitely first as I heard it and about 1m later the 2 cops who were on duty there walked past us towards the group who were chanting.
You might be right about the chant but if definitely sounded like the Ashley chant to me.

There was a chant in the second half from their ‘Uber ‘ fans who were behind the goal in the shed of fat cockney bastard get out of our club.
It seems to validate the OPs comments a bit.

I heard the "Get out of our club" bit but not the rest, but that was when the scuffle was going on.

I personally don't think they were fans of either club.

Maybe folk are sick of getting priced out of football?
I don't watch half as much football as I used to and its not down to the price, its down to the panzys playing the game, I will always watch sunderland, but after that I am happier watching a non league game our sunday league football, I don't really care about the quality I just want to watch a football match and not a load of supreme athlete's fall over and dive any time someone is near them

Well, fair play to you.

40000 go to Wembley 2019
7644 go to Stoke at home in the same competition

No glory hunters. Nope. No sir.

Just saying like

No, but there were more than that at our league games 5 years previously.

Pretending like South Shields fans have some deep and meaningful connection with a club that none of them bothered to keep afloat barely 10 years ago by actually going to the games is disingenuous bollocks.

It was only 7 years ago when the club begged the town to help them keep the club in Shields by trying to do a share scheme....no one cared enough to part with any money then.

I was stood next to some blokes who used to be Sunderland fans, one of them told me he was going to Roker Park from 1953 then started following Shields about 5 years ago because he was sick of getting his weekend ruined and all of the money/players taking the piss out of the club.

Having a dig at shields is pathetic behaviour. Absolutely f***ing pathetic. They're a tiny club who have done well to get a few fans through the doors and make some progress, neither of which are unrelated to the other.

The idea of having a dig at people who can be arsed to watch the Shields standard of football (and that of their opponents) on even a semi regular basis is absolutely f***ing ludicrous. Give your head a wobble and act with some dignity.

I'd never been there before last night but it seemed alright. Not sure I could hack watching it every week but fair play to those who do, regardless of who else they have supported in the past or even still do support now. Shields is half and half, you get plenty from both.
