South Africa v England white ball stuff

It seems to bother the rest of the squad though, which is the more relevant factor. I like him as a player, but can't see a way back for him any time soon.
Maybe, I guess unless you are in the camp then we won't know the ins and outs. If there is literally no way back then probably would be Malan for me currently over Banton.
I’d have no issue with Root in there personally, either he or Malan for me. Buttler should not open.
Buttler is up there with the best finishers in world cricket. It's mental we are trying to open with him when we have Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Banton or Malan who could all do that job very well.

Yeah, that's true. But going off what's been said in the media and the fact he's not been recalled, or looking likely to be, I don't see his prospects as good. I'm joining the dots by saying the rest of the squad, he might have some friends in there I suppose, but I'm presuming a few didn't want him back. Shame because it was great when he was in the side, doing well.

I'd have Malan over Banton as well, as it stands.

You could make a very good argument Malan, is unlucky not to be in there, buy hey it’s international cricket tough decisions have to be made.

Its not a 'tough decision' its a shit decision based on Morgan taking a huff with him, not his lack of value to the team. If you're going to pick Hales, dropped for non-cricketing reasons, then you can hardly leave Malan out.

Just saying imo if every T20 batsman available in the country Malan would not make the side.

Don’t have any idea what going on behind the scenes but think when everyone available (including Hales) Malan would not make the first choice side for the World Cup.

The conversation I was making was best players in the country not the current tour

By tough decision I meant in the future when everyone available no idea why he is not in the side ahead of Denly at the moment.

I don’t think hales will be in the t20 squad. I really rate the lad and have chatted to him and he comes over as a very respectful bloke, who can take a joke.

he is only white ball now, not sure if he is in the 100 but he’ll be off to the Caribbean t20 league and the rest.

some good memories though.

ps

he definitely claimed a catch off benks in a t20 at CLS whilst standing on the rope. I remind him of that one

I’m less concerned by the order in T20 than most. Let’s be honest, it’s hitting from ball 1

He’s arguably our best hitter, so give him balls. I’d probably put him at 3 personally.

Roy
Bairstow
Buttler
Morgan
Stokes
Banton /Hales/Malan
Ali
Jordan
Wood
Archer
Rashid

Personally I wouldn’t pick Root, he’s not a natural for the format and he plays enough as it is

Hales is finished at england level. I rate the lad but it’s gone.

Tend to agree that the order in T20 isn't that important, except in a tight chase where you might need a specialist "finisher" which is just more of a mentality thing than anything technical

I agree, which Is why it’s ridiculous buttler opening. Specialist finisher in bright lights is buttler in t20

to split bairstow and Roy is ridiculous. Would Australia change finch and warner ?

Think that’s very harsh mind. Not saying he’s the answer but that Yorker he bowled in that situation takes some doing, certainly wasn’t lucky.
People seem to think bowlers should be able to just run up and bowl a Yorker on tap, it’s really not that simple. It’s a fine margin between Yorker, half volley and full toss.

I think he's a liability with the ball at the death, time will tell.
