Somerset tell ECB current playing schedule ‘unacceptable’

I like the way they said that they supported the overall objective. The overal objective is to help improve the England team and that comment says nothing about supporting the way Strauss has gone about it and in fact by omission it's a criticism.

They are welcome to set up a break away county championship or 4 day league with derby,Kent,Sussex,Durham,Leicester,Worcester,Northants while the t20 is running alongside.

Money money money.

Resign from the t20 and 50 over cup and do this then...

Ridiculous statement.

Well done Somerset.

Agree with every element of their sentiment.

This bit is particularly close to home for us too:

‘Director of cricket Andy Hurry had said the club were being for producing quality players after losing eight key members of their squad to this year's Hundred, which was played alongside the 50-over format.’

If you replace ‘Hundred’ with ‘England squads’.

This bit too is very pertinent to our situation:

‘Other recommendations put to the ECB include establishing a "sustainable funding model" to allow non-Test venue clubs to "thrive" and continue to produce a pathway for talent to play county and international cricket.’

Angus Fraser said this afternoon on on TalkSport, that the Middlesex players were agreed in NOTwanting a reduction in Championship cricket.

So Strauss was talking a load of cobblers.

Would be nice if the "big" counties could grow some bollocks as well. They won't listen to clubs like Somerset but if lancs, Surrey, Yorkshire etc backed them up they might listen

Strauss is a bellend. Just in it for himself

Amen to that 👌

In fairness, Surrey stood tall against the 16.4 from Day 1 and continue to act/speak in the best interests of the 18 counties.

I'll replace Surrey with Notts, who have been actively promoting the TB 16.4 side on social media all season
Yeah, and I doubt Yakshite will kick up too much of a fuss with the ECB either. Or Middlesex.

I hope the mood is there for rebellion though, the counties are well aware of what the ECB are doing.

Yorkshire will do whatever the ECB ask, for obvious reasons. The members and supporters/ex supporters like myself seem to be either more concerned with the club's internal problems, or losing interest in the professional game completely. I'm closer to the latter, while retaining some interest, it hasn't dominated my summer like it has previously.

Liked but not liked, if you know what I mean.

Watching cricket is an easy habit to get out of.

Just a perfect storm sadly. Lots of things at once. Yorkshire disgracing themselves, ECB trying to drive away existing supporters, ticket prices. Test matches have been good to watch when I've been in to switch the TV on but that's been rare. Went to the Saturday of the Edgbaston Test but it pissed it down most of the day, right in the middle of one of the driest summers on record. Someone trying to tell me something!

In fairness, we've always been anti what's going on from day one

Rumour is Strauss is doing a High Performance Review on the Alphabet. He feel there are far too many letters and by eliminating a few of them will reduce the number of words in the English language resulting in fewer pages in books so the readers eyes won't be tired and exhausted by the time they finish the book.
