I was talking to someone from a hdd company last week and he said that they were producing hybrid drives that boot up quick due to ssd but store data on standard drives to make them more affordable.

I think seagate are doing something like that
 
Probably because they perform the same function albeit at hugely different speeds.
..and as with everything else, 'buy cheap, pay twice'. There are drives, and then there are drives.

So why buy a Lamborghini Gallardo when you could buy a Fiat Multipla which has much more space in it???
 
Just do it. Fast as ferk.

Comparing a small SSD with a hyowge normal drive is like comparing a Ferrari with a double decker bus...
