Anyone solicitors on here? Or just anyone with a Law degree who earns their bread in the legal profession? If you could drop me a PM that would be great.

Don't worry, I don't want free legal advice, just a few questions about the profession itself and the degree.

Cheers in advance.

Agree with this, financially only if you become Partner in a biggish firm does all the study and hard work start to pay off. Even then there are easier ways to make a living. There are probably too many law graduates meaning Firms can take the piss over wages.

I work at a solicitors and did the first part of the Legal Executive qualification but jacked it in. I know loads of people with law degrees struggling to find a training contract and even some who have completed training contracts who are struggling to find a job as a solicitor.

Forget the doom and gloom merchants .. persue what you want to do.. you will only regret it if you dont.

Most of the solicitors I know make a pretty darn good living..

I appreciate their honesty tbh, but cheers :) I will be giving it a go now, don't fancy having that 'dropped out of uni' blotch on my record!

Did my law degree, realised unless you had "old boy" contacts it was very difficult to even get a training contract or pupillage and a lot of money to spend on the off chance you were lucky enough to get one......Now teach law (amongst other things) and best decision I ever made:-D

Mr Smith doesn't post on the boards any more but I am happy to pass on any questions and then advice back.

Janiep is a wonderful woman. They're both in different areas of law so between them cover a wide range.

Thanks very much, PM sent :)
