Solar panels

Yes, there's various octopus energy rates but one has a six hour period at night charging 10p per unit.
Dunno if I'm just being thick but the only Octopus off peak tarriff I found yesterday was one where it stipulates you have to have an EV. Presumably they'll ask for proof of this before allowing you on it. Off-peak was 00:30 to 04:30.

Just had a quote from GEC

4.62kW solar power across 11 panels either side of roof. 5.12kWh battery. With inverter and installation etc £10.495.

Will get a couple more quotes but want to move pretty quickly on it.

Do you not think there will be government subsidised "deals" in the offing in the coming months ?

Haven't rechecked but was on the other day, Google Octopus Intelligent tariff.

I’m on an octopus Facebook group and they don’t check if you have an EV though obviously it’s fraud if you’re caught and they can reclaim the cost by charging you their variable tariff rates for the time you were on it. I decided to go on the octopus Eco7 tariff for overnight charging of batteries, 15p per unit. I believe EDF Eco 7 might be even less.

My octopus go runs out in feb, gutted as it’s been so cheap for the last 3 years. 5p overnight for 4 hours means I’ve ran a car 37000 miles for about £6 a week.

The newer EV tariffs are so high for daytime rates and standing charges it’s debatable whether it’s worth it or just staying on flexible.
