So a bloke with his wife and daughter walk into a bar in Amble...

All about opinions. I respect yours.
As I do yours.
On your first point i don't break the law, and certainly would never be involved in such an assault, so unlikely to have the opportunity to try it.
Good for you on that point but as you know, sometimes you can be dragged into an altercation in many ways, whether it's a family member or someone threatening you.
Ultimately they committed the crime. The reasons it took so long to come to court are unknown. That said if they had not behaved like cowardly scum they would not have been forced to wait 2 years to see what punishment they were to receive.
I absolutely agree with that.
On "what is being predicted" i think you know what i was implying. In my experience the type of person willing to behave in the manner these cowards did will do so again. Some people change, many more don't.
I also agree, but as I said, I think in this case they got a fair punishment overall and although they may get involved in something again, they will now know their punishment comes with a record of violence already set out, so no excuses to hide behind.
It's one of the reasons I say the punishment is fair in this instance.
Had they inflicted serious harm to the person then I'd be advocating a long prison term.

I understand that affray doesn't necessitate a custodial sentence. Affray with 4 attacking 1 deserves more than the norm... in my opinion of course.
And I agree if this was a shut case but it seems 2 were prosecuted which leads me to think the other two maybe didn't take an active part in physical violence and were deemed the lesser of the setup and so were either cautioned or whatever. People guess that the other two didn't grass them up but I highly doubt that...but...just my opinion.

What we seem to have is a few drunks creating a bit of trouble and it got out of hand. If they were intent on doing real harm they would have. What they did was bad enough, especially for the wife and kid but once again I see their sentence as being fair in this circumstance.
People may think it's light but it's far from it and will have more of a potential positive impact than just sending them away for 6 months or so where the overall negative impact could be potentially large.
Stop trying to defend the indefensible - a family walk into a pub, the parents are the victims of GBH by a group of men, the father may be scarred for life and the child will never forget it.
Clearly, it's not GBH. If it was then I would be arguing for a lengthy prison sentence.
It's about putting things into perspective.
Just put yourself in the victims shoes or imagine it was one of your kin and their family.
You're going on as if I condone it. They were sentenced and fairly in my honest opinion for what went on.
Of course, it's not nice for the wife and kid. It's not nice for anyone to be part of anything like that.

Tell you what, go to a pub, get kicked to fuck when you least expect it and let us know if you escape unharmed.
you absolute cretin.
I've had it and I didn't escape unharmed.
They were punished for what they did. I agreed it seemed fair. You clearly don't, so what do you think would be fair punishment considering this is not GBH or anything as bad as is being made out, other than distress to the wife and kid which is not nice but doesn't warrant anything severe in terms of prison time, in my opinion.

You obviously want prison time, so how long do you think they should've got to actually serve?.

‘The victim escaped relatively unharmed’.
What an absolutely cretinous statement. Any individual should be able to go into a public house and have a social drink without fear of becoming a ‘victim’.

I absolutely agree with that but we all know altercations start for a variety of reasons and when they do the punishment should fit the crime.
In this case, I believe the punishment did fit the crime, so what's the issue?

We all tend to think of Northumberland’s stunning castles, coastlines and gastro pubs / restaurants but generally tend to forget how it’s populated with a high % of village idiots who have huge chips on their shoulders and massive inferiority complexes to people from big towns or cities.
About 20 years ago we ended up in Belford for the night causing no offence to anybody but naturally the squad of local blokes supping in their shit pubs did take offence to a group of lads who did nothing more than simply not being sheep shaggers.
Naturally it kicked off and we battered them.
Soft c***s

Someone so heavily convicted already should’ve went to jail. They clearly didn’t learn their lesson. It’s called ‘bad character’.

Yeah please do
Driving with no tax and no test when I was 19.
Driving with no insurance when I was 20, plus no tax or test.
No van tax.
No test.
No seat belt.
Two defective tyres.
Theft.
Burglary.
Drink driving aged 25.

Also, I should add in 3 speeding fines for doing 35 in a 30. 36 in a 30 and 38 in a 30.

Looks bad to some and some will see theft and burglary and think of me burgling a house or something.

Would you like me to explain the setup for all of that and how it all came about?

Difference being this bloke was with his wife and child, not a group of lads.

Well done. You have confirmed to everyone on here that you are scum.

Yes, go ahead.
I worked on schemes and managed to get a job at Aladdins flask factory in Brenda road. I had a great chance to be taken on and then it closed down.
A few badly paid schemes later and I decided to go scrapping.
I borrowed the money for a small van and went scrapping. The problem was I couldn't afford insurance and tax and test at the time so I just ran around locally just picking up bits here and there and weighing it in a few times a day.

The chances of being pulled up were always there and I managed to have a long run before I was pulled up.
The fines were minimal for test or tax and none of this taking off the road stuff in those days.
The insurance I got fined £90 for and 6 penalty points (I think).

Anyway, the tyres I was fined £25 for.
No test alone was £50.
Tax was back pay and court costs iirc.

The theft was when I had a pickup. I picked up a few railway chairs that were scattered about on waste ground on the docks and was told I was trespassing but also anything taken from the ground was classed as theft and I was fined £95.

The burglary was a right farce.

Scrapping again in the same pickup, me and a mate were told houses in Easington were being gutted and people had flung all kinds of scrap out.
We went up and collected bits but many others had also cleaned up a lot of it.

I was rummaging about in the yards and my mate looked to see if anything was left in the gutted houses.
The police turned up and asked us what we were doing. I said "looking for scrap" and we were from Hartlepool and were told houses up here were being gutted.

He said "you're not supposed to be around here", so we said "ok, we'll go."

He said, "no you won't, you're under arrest."

We were taken to Peterlee station and charged with burglary.
When we went to court a while later my solicitor said the burglary charge was so far off the scale and he couldn't understand why it wasn't just trespassing, given the fact that I was in the yard and the houses were open to the elements.

The judge decided to fine me £120 (I think) and also gave me 3 months in prison suspended for 2 weeks based on my first payment of £2 per week. Work that one out.

The drink driving was me coming home from a 2 till 10 pm shift at the steelworks and deciding to nip into the pub for a quick few pints. I had two pints and decided to go and get a Chinese from the chow kee.

I got pulled up and breathalysed and was found to be over the limit.
I went to the police station and was given a breathalyser there and the reading came out at 42 milligrams in 100 litres of breath. The legal limit was 35 at that time.
I was told if I'd hit 40 they wouldn't have gone any further and called me unlucky.

Later on, I went to court and obviously pleaded guilty. I got a year's ban and a £250 fine with £20 court costs.
I was asked how much a week and I just said £10 a week.
I actually sold my car and just paid it off a week later.

The speeding fines were spread over time and all when I was over 30 to 40.

My fines were £60 penalty notices and 3 points on my licence.

Everything I said is as true as I can recall.
All my cards on the table.
