If I see someone hitting a child I usually go over and try and help.

I don't think it is right but I also figure it isn't what most parents want to be doing.

That's kind of what staggers me on this thread. I just wonder whether the posters who have written that it's perfectly OK to hit their own children, but not other people's children, are the same posters who become instant heroes if an animal or woman is being hit instead of a child.
