Slack messenger

Is it possible for the admin to set up an alert so that when keywords are used by anyone, even in a private message, the messages get flagged and can be read by the admin?

Apparently the gaffers at work have been doing this.

Good idea that. Would instantly level the playing field on here

Kind of - the admins (not on a free account) can export the data if they wish and poke through it.

Not sure about alerts and such.

unless its changed in the last year, no. I was admin on enterpirse slack for a large US IT company (10,000+ employees) and it wasnt possible to read messages from private groups or private messages. Slack themselves say they cannot see into chats.

again unless its changed you can export data for stats and billing purposes you cannot see into chats.

Could be wrong but fairly sure it was a gaping “hole” which made it possible for admins to export all data and view it unencrypted.

They have made it even easier than it was before!

Launched in our place, lad had no idea they could read everything you sent. Sat next to the CEO and slagged him off, while he was looking through what people were saying

Not sure if you still can, but you definitely could then. We are only 110 staff, of which only 30 or so are on slack like.

Finished in that job end of 2017. Wasn’t possible then. Seems they’ve fucked it up. That was a big selling point for them.

It’s a great application though. Was dubious when we moved to it but it can do so much.

The old method was around from early 2014, they’ve just made it easier now it looks like. Filter what you want rather than grabbing a massive “complience” dump
