Single Malt Recommendation

After buying a bottle for my brother for Christmas, nowt too flash looking to spend £25 tops really. Try getting him a different one every year so already tried most like Aberlour, Chivas, Old Pulteney etc think last year I got him a blended as I liked the name and bottle ( Monkey Shoulder ). He liked that manky Laphroaig ( sp? ) so obviously doesnt mind peaty flavours

Any ideas?

Try Lidl. They have their own branded single malts in Islay, Speyside varieties. Seems to be decent value.

Also have a one for £40 which i think is 21 year old

£25 won't get much decent unless you find summat on a special offer.

Lidl Ben Bracken Speyside Review

I've got a bottle. Not an expert but I like it.

Bruichladdich is a peaty Islay malt. Lagavaulin is the best IMHO but also the most expensive. You might try Talisker or Highland Park if he goes for the stronger flavours.

If you can find it, Tamnavoulin is rather nice. It was the most picturesque distillery I've visited, but sadly it closed a few years back.

Glenfarclas is also an excellent dram, but if you think Oban 14 is expensive, you may want to start saving for this.

Aldi's Oliver Cromwell gin is another belter.
