Simple question, what would your rating for Henderson be tonight?

6 for me. didnt do much, but when he did it was tidy and did what was obviously asked of him.

Tomorrow's Sun however:

Jordan Henderson
THE game completely passed him by. His first contribution was a booking in the second half. Yet Henderson is proving to be a good Premier League player and he will benefit from this experience. 5

Definately a 6, did what was asked of him pretty well but didnt get to take control of things like he might of liked.

To be fair that's right it did pass him by. Usually as the ball was in orbit as it went over him.

6. He was playing far too deep. It was only during the very few minutes he had after Gerrard went off that he began to look comfortable on the ball and showed glimpses of what he can do in the final third.

5/6, Did his job but was often left wondering what his job was when others weren't doing theres.

And often looked wondering why as an attacking midfielder he was put in to do a holding midfieders role.

6. solid and unspectacular, neat, tidy, simple one touch passes, didnt give the ball away.

The Sun are right to a degree, as hardly anyone in a white shirt would pass to him. Cant remember Gerrard or Barry passing to him - Gerrard hoofed it 50 yards all the time with limited success, even when Henderson was in a good position in the middle of the pitch. Sadly Henderson will be blamed by the press as he isnt the new Gazza.

Interesting point for me was Capello giving him the full 90 mins. Only debutant of the 3 to get the full 90.

This, I thought at one stage Gerard was deliberately not finding him when he made himself available .
Then I thought , even a lowlife like Gerrard wouldn't sink that low.:)

Some of the other England players seemed to be deliberately avoiding passing to Jordan, even though he was in space, especially in the second half

I thought he was abandoned by the cluesless fuckwits around him for large periods of the game.

Got into the game more in the second half when the hapless Barry was hauled off. Then he did ok harrying the French and served as a decent anchor whilst Gerrard went running like a headless chicken.

Nowt flash, and not always visible (especially on TV), but that's our Jordan.

Aye. He always found the space though to provide an option, whilst never leaving us exposed. Capello will like that.

They did it with Bent before the World Cup. It's a closed shop, especially as young Jordan or Darren don't really drink.

Anyhow, I'd give him a 6. Tried to get involved but stifled by his instructions. Got better later on as he pushed forwards more. Best user of the ball in the team.
