Call the bloke out if you want, criticise his tactics if you want but out of his depth?

The bloke got promoted with Leeds United and when he left the club was in the Championship and the club statement read

"We have 18 games to go this season and are still within touching distance of the Play-Offs, but felt with the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference"

So he stabilized the side he got promoted and still had nearly half a season to get them in the play offs.

The bloke is not out of his depth, he has managed a club that is arguably bigger than SAFC going on the history of the last 50 years and he did very well with one promotion and then mid table stability with a chance of the play offs.

I think as a fan base we seriously need to get over ourselves, some on here make themselves sound like them up the road with this sense of entitlement and this arrogant idea that we are somehow bigger than managers who have done well elsewhere; ffs we were turned down by the manager of Aberdeen.

The faster fans accept that we are where we are and until we get rid of Short then things are unlikely to change the better.....Slag off the players and manager as much as you want but we are in a league where we are being outspent by nearly every side in there and our squad reflects that.

The only thing that will take us forward is getting rid of Short, sack as many managers as you like, change this group of loanees and rejects/journeymen for the next load of loanees/rejects/journeymen and we will still be where we are but paying up Graysons contract too.

All efforts now need to be put into putting pressure on Short to get out of Dodge. You know as well as I do when SAFC fans decide someone is leaving then they are leaving.

I'm not convinced by him.

But you're 100% right, Short is killing out club. He's a cancer.

People need to remember we've still got a bulk of last seasons squad who were relegated in pathetic fashion.

Coupled with the small budget Grayson was given to overhaul the squad, it was never going to be an easy job.

big Sam was on the way to sorting it, but did have a canny bit of money in that January and also the goodwill of kone and khazri

if only but there you go

11 managers in recent years including some of the best managers in football couldnt solve those problems. I think putting together the players he has on the pathetic budget he was given is miraculous tbh.
Miraculous?

Seriously?

I've seen lower league football and never seen such a low standard of football. Can't do the basic, pass the ball from A to B, move off the ball. No system, nothing. Grayson stands there no motivation. Christ take a look at Pelingrini, Klopp or Conte, make some connection wth the players.

Not sure its even controversial mate, they won the Premiership, finished top 5 for a few years on row, were in EUFA cup then Champions league and did alright there too. In comparison our recent history is laughable.
No they didn't

He is out of his depth and should not have been appointed in the first place. We need short gone as a good manager won't come while he is here.

Preston were quoted £2 million for McGeady by Everton to make his loan permanent, we got him for £250k.....He alone is worth our entire budget and cost us next to nowt. Wilson is a solid player, McManamon is a solid player, Williams is a solid player who has done it at international level. Browning has been excellent since he arrived, Grabban currently has a strike rate of 1:2 in the league which is top drawer and on paper we have a very strong side barring strikers.....That of course could be helped by playing one striker and 5 midfielders which is something he needs to work out quickly.

@Bagpuss has not got this point all day!

He has made mistakes, but given the mess the club is in they are tiny mistakes and we are not in a mess because of those mistakes we are in a mess because of Shorts mistakes.

He cost us the game today with his tactics and personnel. No pace in the side and the 5-3-2 was a lopsided mess.

We got an injury to a centre back at HT and he still didn't change it. Farce.

Are you being serious?

Nice bloke, possibly out of his depth. Impossible to say he's not out of his depth.

So he could cope with Leeds but not Sunderland, is that honestly what you are saying? What about the other 11 failures in the last few years, were they all out of their depth too because they were all sacked having done shite? Or maybe, just maybe is it the club/owner that is the problem not the managers?
