Signing Defoe has relegated us....

Heaven forbid we give a 32 year old penalty box blaster more than one chance every game or so.

He's bound to miss a few chances, he always has. He's also being played in more of the pitch than I can remember him being at other clubs.

Signing Defoe wasn't the problem, Short refusing to bring anyone else was.

Team is clearly not good enough, we needed at least 2 more class signings, but no, the American Scrooge has relegated us just so he could make a few more £s.

We have to fight for our club and wrestle it off the cancer which is Elis Short.

I'd have been gutted if I hadn't. It was shite and his flick in the 2nd half was even worse. He's scored some big goals for us but overall he's been disappointing.
Everyone has an off day but it seems we have ours all at the same time most weeks more than anyone else i really believe we cant redeem ourselves. The trap door is wide open

I think the lad is used to playing with quality players around him.

Also used to spending a lot more time in and around the penalty area. Being honest and I know he's missed a few chances for us, but do we really provide him with the ammunition for him to thrive?

You often hear older strikers (like Anal) mentioning how when they got older they just operated between the width of the penalty area, rather than running the channels etc. Yet Defoe seems to often be quite deep and also turns up in wide areas even when he's not operating in a wide area. I'm not sure whether he's been told to do it or it's ball starvation and he goes looking for it, but I don't think it's to his or the teams benefit.

He has had excellent chances against Stoke (twice), QPR and West Ham and missed them all. People can't say he hasn't had chances. The thing is we don't create that many so while it might be a bit harsh for the amount of chances he has got, he is paid huge money to convert them.

Like our whole squad this season (with the very odd exception) he has been disappointing.

Fuck me , why don't yoy fuvck off and cry on your own board with the other *****.

Yes

We'd have stopped up if we didn't sign him

Yes

No doubt about it

he'll score some quality goals (Swansea & Newcastle) and he'll also make a right hash of some quality chances (West Ham & Stoke)

that's how he's always been. unfortunately the knackers in charge of our club have spent 70k a week to bring him here banking on him putting every chance he gets in the net. bit harsh to expect him to single handedly save us

That was far from his only "off day" though.
