Should we get rid of the 1p and 2p coins?

It's a yes from me. Pointless low denomination coins. Get rid.

The Treasury could be paving the way for the end of 1p and 2p coins as it seeks views on the future of cash.

It is inviting comments on the mix of coins in circulation as consumers move to non-cash payments such as contactless and digital spending.

Ministers say there are no current plans to scrap them.

But the consultation hints at the growing cost of handling these coins. It also questions the validity of the £50 note.

Is this the end for 1p and 2p coins?

No. Only reason currencies disappear is for the benefit of the banks. Fuck em. Bring back the half penny I say.

Would a 5p coin be less effective?

Why are they questioning the validity of £50 notes? £50 isn't a great deal of money any more, they should be more common not less.

Can't buy a kilo of coke off the dark web with copper man.
  13. Exactly, the mad euro bastards even have 200 and 500 notes.

It’s all about the edge Kev. Ones and twos have a solid edge to them. Premium scratch card coins are yer ones and twos.

Nobody will take a £50 though. High denomination notes are big targets for fraud aren't they? Why fake ten fivers when you can fake one £50.

That said when I worked in a shop in Durham and the international students would come in with a £50 for for something that cost £5 it was mildly amusing. Especially as you're only allowed £50 in your till anyways.
