Correct. I've always considered anything by the Wear to be Co Durham.
Although I appreciate that's not strictly geographically sound

I was writing Co. Durham as me address from an early age (when I was born in/we were geographically in the county) and have never stopped. You're not meant to write the county on correspondence nowadays, just the post town and post code but I still do it as a small act of defiance.
