Short haul airlines ..........some bad reading here..

I've flown a few times with Ryanair and found them perfectly acceptable.
Not quite as polished as some of the other airlines, but I've always had decent leg room and the flights have been on time and had no hassle.
Sometimes they seem a little surprised that you want a drink from the trolley as most people sit there determined not to spend anything.

Used to fly Wizz from Luton to Budapest as it was direct.

There seemed to be no baggage restrictions has people just rocked up with suitcases inside the plane

Surprised at Eurowings. Used them quite a lot on the NCL-DUS route and have never had any problems with them. You can put your hand luggage in the hold when boarding and collect it when disembarking at the other end. You can even pay to have the seat next to you empty for £20.

They don't really charge a premium in the most part.

I'm flying to Munich next week with them.. luggage included and it's £118 return with excellent flight times
We fly fairly regularly to Cape Town, they are normally the most expensive option (by a few hundred pounds) and normally provide the worst service, old planes, shite IFE, freezing the last couple of times my daughter flew with them. Their flight times are normally good, other than that I think they are poor, they are also by far the worst business class I've flown in.

Flown with Ryanair and found them to be absolutely shite, but that's what you pay for. Like taking a flying bus really.

Also flew with Whizz and they're unacceptably bad.

Easyjet looks like business class in comparison To both of them mind.
I mean, what to you expect. Sometimes £10-20-40 return to europe. For a weekend just take a backpack and if you aren't arsed about sitting with your partner for a 2 hour flight then you're golden.

Doesn’t surprise me Jet2 is top. Excellent service from the staff. Comfortable seats. Good food. Only problem with my flight to and from Spain was the ground crew. They forgot I think to take away the stairs up to the plane so the plane was delayed. I only have experience of EasyJet and Jet2 and of the two Jet2 was the best.

Whizz is exactly what you expect it to be. It’s not a big name with a big reputation. Anyone who goes with these League Two airlines deserves all they get.

I was expecting what I got with Ryanair, bit there's no point in dressing it up. You get exactly what you pay for. I'll use them again and won't feel bad about it.

Whizz Air were worse and I wouldn't fly with them again.

Genuinely curious to know what specifically are the negative experiences people had with RyanAir, Whizz etc? Especially for short haul I'm really not bothered about an uncomfortable flight. I'm struggling to know why people have such strong opinions, but equally understand if something out the ordinary happened.

I fly with wizz at least twice per month.

I don't think they are that bad at all, especially for the price they charge.

It's usually the passengers that cause my flying experience to be just awful.
Just watching numbskulls trying to find their seat is a documentary in waiting. I mean, how hard can it be?
As much as I appreciate low fares there is absolutely no doubt it has ruined the flying experience.

As long as you are within an hour or two of Heathrow or Gatwick then BA are often the best choice as they have the prime slots at major airports while the "budget" airlines are flying at stupid o'clock or from secondary airports.
