Short badly advised again

What were the circumstances at Bristol city?

Just promoted with no money, finished 10th previous season and he ruined it etc ?

You would have thought he would have learnt by now but if the media is correct and we are after Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes because of a recommendation by Walter Smith.
Why would we be even considering anyone suggested by Walter Smith? Does he know anything about Sunderland or even the Championship?
Sunderland is a unique club and it will destroy the wrong Manager. It needs a Manager who understands the Club and has a link with it's history.
Derek McInnes, taking his Scottish jobs aside has been very poor. Slumps of form at Bristol City, 7 consecutive defeats. Appointing him will be one of Short's biggest ill advised disasters.
Can we drop the Scottish connection, thinking that anyone who has done well in Scotland brings any credit.
Jackie McNamara did well at Patick taking them to a Cup Final, at Dundee Utd he also got them to a cup final. At York he was a disaster, taking them into Non League where they are still struggling to recover now.
Success in Scotland should be taking with a pinch of salt.

Well said

Mental appointment

He's appointed people who supposedly know what they are doing Bruce, O'Neill, Poyet Advokaat Allardyce and Moyes - I'm not sure what managers people would want that he hasn't tried.
Perhaps its time these same people who know what they are doing gave the job to complet fecking looney loser of a manager... It would be bound to work.

A good manager is a good manager. I don't buy into the "needs to understand the club" line.

Reid, Dennis Smith, Keane, had no previous connection with the club, but they were all great man managers, all with a point to prove, and all great at working with what they had (though Keane spent a bit).

Big sam had the same qualities too, although he had played for us. If this Scottish chap is in this mould, he may do well.

Let's face it, despite our history and support, we are a financial mess with a load of players to shift. Compared to boro, Hull, Watford, we are likely to be down the list.

Deep in the clarts when he was appointed, and kept them up very much against the odds. He then had all his best players (including Bolasie) sold over the summer, and was sacked when the next season started badly.
I don't get why so many people are categorically stating that he 'failed' there. Few would/could have done better.
