Short badly advised again

We never seem to have an open recruitment the narrow it down from there. We just seem to have 1 target no matter what. I would much rather us interview several candidates seriously and listen to what each had to say, rather than an ex rangers staff member asking another ex rangers staff memeber who he would appoint

Welcome to Ellis Short management style mate.......he's an idiot.

I think he needs to stop hiding behind the "badly advised" excuses and start taking ownership of his own actions. After 10 years of being badly advised he should know what he's doing by now, learn by your own mistakes.
Exactly this. Still you will get fans sticking up for him though, I'm starting to think they are Shorts fan club more than anything.

Who should he listen to? If Short had listened to the advice of Alex Ferguson he would have had him appoint Moyes!! Don't think there's an answer to this question!

some on here think we have a god given right to be in the prem because of our history and massive support.
A place in the prem is earned or bought we can do neither at the minute as we have no money and top class players to get us there
We also by the way need a manager who can galvanise the club and the fans back together, i am not saying McKinnes is the man but we need a backbone of at team and strength and stability
we aint had that for years inc BSA

You would have thought he would have learnt by now but if the media is correct and we are after Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes because of a recommendation by Walter Smith.
Why would we be even considering anyone suggested by Walter Smith? Does he know anything about Sunderland or even the Championship?
Sunderland is a unique club and it will destroy the wrong Manager. It needs a Manager who understands the Club and has a link with it's history.
Derek McInnes, taking his Scottish jobs aside has been very poor. Slumps of form at Bristol City, 7 consecutive defeats. Appointing him will be one of Short's biggest ill advised disasters.
Can we drop the Scottish connection, thinking that anyone who has done well in Scotland brings any credit.
Jackie McNamara did well at Patick taking them to a Cup Final, at Dundee Utd he also got them to a cup final. At York he was a disaster, taking them into Non League where they are still struggling to recover now.
Success in Scotland should be taking with a pinch of salt.
Will you please get fucked with the Sunderland is a unique club shite man, embarrassing. A big fan base and a long history doesnt make us unique.

I don't know anything about McInnes tbh. However, I wonder what the SMB would have made of the club giving Clough the managers job in 1975 after failing at Leeds and Brighton.
Clough never failed ... Those clubs failed him

If any team has a God given right mad bob it's us ... The Pope's had a word ... Sadly Moyes was a heathen

Spot the odd one out! Why is Schwarz included with those names?
He's a punt admittedly. Moyes was stability look where that got us ...

I have no idea whether he is or is not the right appointment. However, when appointing Moyes, O'Neil et al it had pretty much the SMB's full approval and they turned out well. Everything is easy with hindsight.

Anyway Ferguson did alright at Aberdeen and he didnt do too bad when he got a job in England. ;)

Yeah I'd probably agree with that on the face of it. What I can say, though, is that McInnes isn't a bad candidate because of his lack of first hand SAFC knowledge. And if the decision making process on selecting the successful candidate is objective I don't mind a bit of limited croneyism in the selection of the shortlist
Of course croneyism is fine when it works ;)

Who should he listen to?
Monk just became available....I listen to former players that care about the club current & former for starters. Then talk to for managers like Reid....you will get the sense of the right person for the job....

Not me hated Moyes...poor appointment at the time I stated and I believe a number of people on here agreed....

I thought Moyes was a decent appointment; how wrong I was.

MORE excuses for Short stupidity, badly advised?

He has been involved with our club long enough to know who is good bad or indifferent, he wa bigging up his personal admiration for moyes.

No excuses imo, simply a dumb ass chairman.

He probably takes counsel from visitors to his jock fortress, and then when he hosts the annual cake and arse party it can be passed off as "badly advised"

He could log onto this board and pick up half a dozen viable options in ten minutes flat. They are as thick as shit, and what the fuck does bain do? Has he pulled a lord lucan? or is he in his padded bunker knitting tank tops?
