Really don't understand the clamour to replace the current badge...got Penshaw Monument on it, the Wearmouth Bridge and red & white stripes, I like it, think it looks really well.

If its doable ( fa fifa) just produce two kits one with old and one with new and let the public choose what they want...im sure they would sell more kits ..your right there are more important things for the club to be doing at the moment but it is an important element to some fans just look at the number of posts on the subject !Just let the market do what it wants ...I do wonder if the mention of the badge by the club is just a distraction as we all know it will cost money to change all the signage ,letterheads and all the detritious involved with a brand symbol and we know these lot dont want to spend owt.My guess is after a few months they will say we have decided to keep the present badge but will produce a few retro strips and merchandise to remember our heritage... and they will probably say we will relook at this if and when no sorry when we get back into the premiership...
One thing is for sure there will have been meetings with fanatics and hummel and the club discussing how to sell more stuff and the old badge is probably an easy choice but creating some sort of campaign around the choice of badge and brand identity might just another strategy...perhaps within our broad church of supporters our PR and branding experts might like to comment.

Give the fans the best of both, home shirt stays with modern badge, then knock up the away kit in a retro style and put the ship on her. It’s not rocket science, then pump out a mixture of merch like they have this year, but better quality with a load of licensed Hummel vaux retros. Someone get me a job to sort it

I don't think they were simplifying them at the time, that really started a few years later. We just complicated ours in a period a bit after others started doing it, but a bit before the simplification started

It is in the city itself. The Washington boundary in that area ends and becomes Sunderland where the old railway line was just beside the fire station in Sulgrave. Its postcode is also SR5, not NE37.
Really hope if we do change badges it isn’t a shite basic as fuck round badge like loads of clubs are seemingly going down. Hope we keep the current one tbh but would also love the blue sea ship badge, not the 90s one.

I would as the current badge is a right hotchpotch of a design.
Modern updated badges tend to be more simplistic and ours if anything looks old fashioned.
The Nissan plant is within the City of Sunderland mind.
