Appeasing the fans with retro Hummel kits and the old badge to make up for not spending any money this summer and a shite manager incoming can see it now.

He’s responsible for branding. It’s one of his jobsSurely he has higher priorities than the club crest
Agreed.probably the least important issue at the club at the moment. how much are they going to waste on this shite?
the use of the old badge is very clever marketing currently, taking advantage of the popularity in retro kits etc.. but its just a passing phase.
The current crest looks more old fashioned than the ship badge imhothe old one is great, but thats exactly what it is. an old badge. the club are being very clever in using it for merchandising and retro kits etc.. but thats how it should stay. we currently kind of have two club crests. its great. just leave it alone
Hope not. Looks like a child drew it. On the back of a packet of Seabrook ready salted.
Cheap and old fashioned, not in a good way.
Or… simple, straightforward and very much a modern-looking club crest especially when compared to the fussy and over-complicated current manifestation.Hope not. Looks like a child drew it. On the back of a packet of Seabrook ready salted.
Cheap and old fashioned, not in a good way.
I would certainly get rid of the scrolls etc on it. But I think the main bulk of the design is better. Not keen on the shape of the ship one.I think the current one is more old fashioned in it's design than the ship badge
Always thought the current badge is a right hotchpotch and thrown together by a GCSE art class.Agreed.
Also the new badge symbolized a new start and era which coincided with the best football most of us have seen in our lifetime. Why hark back to the depressing old days of later years Roker Park and the drudgery that came with it?
Aye, get rid of that, the badge equivalent of VARYou must be logged on to see media items
Like we just have with everyone going mental for Hummel?Agreed.

I’ve only ever known the sol and I prefer the ship badge. I think it’s cleaner and fits more into current design trendsThose who went to Roker Park will want the old badge...those who have only ever known the Sol, will want the present badge. Simple as that.
Villa Brighton Brentford, Sheffield United. Luton is a bit different but still sort of follows the style.Eh? Where have I said that? Other than Boro, Chelsea and Bristol City, I’m struggling to think of others who have anyway.
Man City had a circle badge years back and reverted to it - because the 90s shite isn’t good for branding.
why not have half n half then? You could level that at the current hotchpotch of a badge we've got now.
Modern way is to have a simplified badge which the Ship version was.
I went to RP for 20+ seasons and have been going to the Sol since it opened. Those who went to Roker Park will want the old badge...those who have only ever known the Sol, will want the present badge. Simple as that.
Same.I went to RP for 20+ seasons and have been going to the Sol since it opened.
I prefer the more simplistic ship badge. As others have said it clearly symbolises the heritage of the area.
