Ship Badge to come back permanently?

Not as simple as that for me. I much prefer the current badge. The old one is dated but to be honest there are much more significant issues to be resolved, namely a new manager, and addressing outgoing and incomming transfers.

This - the new one is not modern, it's dated and shows. More modern looking would be a revision to the Ship badge and it directly harks back to our heritage that's even more important to show now it's gone. The new one tries to do this, but doesn't achieve it and ends up looking messy and meaningless. Let's have the distinctive old one back that quite clearly says what this city is and where we come from.

I'm sure the Latin on the current badge was mentioned as being incorrect when it first was introduced, or the translation doesn't quite work or something?

Whilst I have got used to it, I have never been a fan of the current badge. I grew up with the ship badges, so obviously I love them, but yes a brand new badge might work, it would be very divisive though and I don't think we need that right now.

I dislike the new badge but its been around so long that if it was put to a vote i think mostly due to inertia it would win any vote.....as much as i prefer the ship badge but i do agree with you that this debate would be divisive (cynical me might condone the thought that they might use it to distract from the calamity that is the ownership group)I think the compromise would be sto keep the official badge (thus saving money from changing all the detritus involved,signage ect)but sell two versions of the strip to fans one with the ship and one with the old badge and let the fans pick what they want ..its a no lose situation ..to be honest a few fans on here came up with the spirit of 37 badge in a couple of days and i liked that one....... for me simplicity is the key and if we had to change i would opt for a simple black cat(domestic pussy,not that couger shit)sitting on a ball with safc written under it .....derivative i know but timeless and simple like the spurs badge(although the spurs cock looks like its standing on a basketball)

Look at the prem league badges it’s our new one that’s dated , Brentford have a bee West Ham hammers man Utd devils we juts have some metal gates with shit splattered all over the middle I don’t even associate penshaw monument with us we are called the black cats yet there is absolutely no relevance to the name in our badge we have two f***ing stupid griffin like lion things
 
Never been overly attached to the current one, and while I like the ship badge, I don't think going back is the right move.

Happy for them to come up with something new.
