South Shields is my favourite area of coast in Tyne & Wear, great pubs, cracking beaches and walks, and best fish and chips this side of anywhere. On days like today I really hate living in York, it's such a ballache to get to the coast from here. It's only 45 minutes but costs nearly £20 on the train. 45 mins from my house in Gosforth could be in Shields, Tynemouth, Seaburn or Whitley Bay for £3.80 return on the metro or in a little longer for £6 upto Alnmouth or Bamburgh.

Can't believe there are people in this thread trying to say Sebaurn/Roker is better than Shields sea front

Took the afternoon off work yesterday and cycled all the way along the coast to Shields, was canny but there was a reet biting wind in the air early on.

The sea looked class with the fog and the sun blasting down.

Was some canny totty jogging up and down Seaburn, one had mahoosive tits. The benefits of shades  :-D

Keep passing loads of bikers and keep wondering if they are off here.

I tend to go along shields road, through cleadon, round the back of shields, up past the little haven and along the sea front.

There is no better bike ride in the north east than the Sunderland-Shield coast route
