Agree with the OP. Took the 2 little ones down for the day and was amazed at the place.
The park is outstanding for little ones, the little steam train went down well!
If you compare how south shields has turned itself around over the last 20 years compared to WHitley Bay which has been left to rot, the council deserve a lot of credit.

Will it be hell this weekend though
?

aye went not last weekend but weekend before on the sunday

couldnt get parked was mobbed

ate our chips in the car parked in the coach park at little haven

North east is like a little secret man, them darrrrn sarfff think its a shithole when infact its one of the best places to live in the country.

Much as I love going through Shields, I think they've made an ar5e of the seafront redevelopment. Still love it though.

Shields is great, always loved going there. Just the right amount of development on the front too; they've not tried to turn it into Blackpool. Love Tynemouth too

I think your right there they havent over done it, id love seaburn and roker to be given the same level not ott but a bit more spent on it.

Sunderland is much better - two big beaches, lots of cafes pubs and restaurants.

Shields have just crammed a load of crap in to the small amount of space they have. That park is shit anarl........not fit to clean the trees of Roker Park

if Seaburn and Roker had a bit more spent on them they'd be absolutley stunning; Roker needs that empty plot filling opposite the diving school and the grotty arcade tidying up. And Seaburn need something in the fun fair site

Agreed......but looking at the landscape you have a nice beach that's about a mile long with the odd pub, cafe or restaurant scattered hither and thither.

We're very lucky.

That's the great thing about it though, it's spacious and not rammed with shitty restaurants & pubs which are all competing with each other for custom.

Oh and you missed the bit about the new development next to the fair, you know the largest soft play area in the UK, 10 pin bowling alley, Emilio's Italian restaurant, Brig pub, the functions suites, the skate park, the hockey court, the 5 aside area, the tennis courts....

Oh and let's not forget the new development that is currently being constructed on the site of the old Quaser lazer site:

25m pool, leisure pool & kids pool + fitness suite and rooftop restaurant.

So remind me again what's on offer in Seaburn?

They'll just get full of the unemployed tramps who make up the majority of the south shields population........nobody decent wants to mix with ruffians like that.

When Seaburn and Roker are developed they will have enough space for the development and it will be done in a less tacky way than shields.

God's own country, don't tell the mackems though, it'll soon deteriorate.

The bay at Seaburn is lovely though there's nowt to do.

 This century or next?

Actually it's quite nice inside the Dunes development, I've been a few times. It's priced just right so that the local chavs don't use it as knocking shop. And if you take the family you can easily slip off into the pub bit away from the kids & wife to enjoy a quiet pint.

Mackems don't feel the need to visit shields every 2 weeks - that's very telling

Might give it a whirl this weekend
