Shields school in lockdown

Some classes were under desks but not all. My lad was sitting quietly on the floor but they didn’t know what was happening outside, just that they were it was lockdown (terrible that there’s a procedure for it to be honest).
The way they practice lockdown is by saying ‘imagine there’s a dog in school and we need to get it back to its owner, we’re going to sit quietly in the floor and close the blinds’.
He was more concerned he was going to get told off for being late home!

But isn't it weird that they're not reporting it?
Apparently they had machetes?

I’ve heard, machetes, shotguns, knives all from various people so not sure what to believe to be honest.
There were several police officers at the school and I know one parent had pictures on her phone that she was showing them. I think the reports were that they were allegedly armed which triggered the lockdown but I’ve not seen anything to say they definitely were.
It was very unsettling and weird but maybe they are just reporting the facts that they know for definite.

The facts are that the school was put in lockdown, we live just along from it and Mrs Bresslaw was in the Tesco and saw someone she knew who's kid was still crying. The Gazette have posted something on Facebook and the comments are pretty damming, surely the Gazette would then investigate further?

There's loads of antisocial behaviour round here and residents are properly pissed off, there's some censorship going on here.

I know, I’m one of them, I’m quite close to the school myself but I’m not going to get drawn in the mass hysteria that sometimes happens on the village Facebook page either. There’s some right fannies on there.
I’d rather deal on facts and not guesswork and exaggeration.
I really don’t think there’s any censorship at all, they are probably just reporting what they know.

Facebook article has been removed?
Why are they not reporting that a school was put in lockdown, I'm not on about the other unconfirmed stuff about machetes, trying to steal a motorbike, trying to get a woman's 4x4 etc. Just report the fact.

The Gazette Facebook article? It’s still live https://m.facebook.com/story.php?st...2ejbaUDTvcAEUD8REqGzTaLtnl&id=104134056317110

As for the lockdown stuff, I don’t know, maybe to not incite panic, maybe they rang the school to confirm and didn’t get a response? Could be anything but I’m not minded to think it’s some kind of censorship. The Chronicle reported it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry, couldn't find it.
Some interesting comments:

"A group of lads attempted to steal a motorbike.

Is that literally it?? What a load of rubbish. We’d all like a bit more information that that.

My son’s classroom was barricaded shut with broom handles while they all hid under desks. Police presence outside the school again today. The school don’t do that because a bunch of lads were trying to pinch a bike"

The classrooms were not barricaded with broom handles, this is what I mean about the exaggeration.
It doesn’t help.
The police were there but just to provide reassurance.

this is the second school to go into 'lockdown' in South Tyneside this month.

I work in a different school within South Tyneside and we went over our lockdown policy in a whole staff meeting last week including code words we use that will be announced over our tannoy system should the need for a lockdown arise for us.

Somebody wanted some internet fame I reckon
