Facing administration and the possibility of liquidation. :-(

A sad state of affairs for any club but I've always had a certain fondness for the Owls, they're a canny big club with a fantastic history and passionate fans. Not too dissimilar to us really.

Hope they get through it...

Hope they are ok always preffered them to Sheffield Utd.

They will be ok as there are plenty of Vultures waiting to swoop and give themselves a 90% saving on the debt- ie 10p in the £.

The Club also owns the Ground and Training Ground at Middlewood.

Worked with loads of Wednesday fans, they're f***ing mentalists, but sound lads i.m.o,proper club anarl, hope they stay afloat like.

Big shame.

In view of some of the mismanagement at our place in years gone by, it's fair to say that,... "there but for the grace of God go we".

....or should that read "there but for the grace of NIALL QUINN........." ?

Don't mind Wednesday, though I wouldn't want them to liquidate whether or not I did, or if I preffered their neighbours.

I've good memories of Hillsborough, too.

I lived in Sheffield for 4 years, I always had a higher affection for Wednesday over United.

People thinking it is a 'blue half of Sheffield' are wrong, SWFC are a bigger club in terms of profile, attendances and what could be called dormant support. Unlike United whose support is mainly derived from the city itself and mainly the Eastern and Southern parts of Sheffield, SWFC tend to attract their support from all over South Yorkshire. Due to this the likes of Barnsley and ROtherham judge Wednesday to be a bigger match for them. If they were knocking on the door of the PL they'd be getting 27/28k through the door I have no doubt. 30k in the PL. Confused as to why they've not attracted real investment tbh. The training facilities at Middlewood are top notch and Hillsborough whilst not a SOL, does need not to be knocked down or anything. They'll get money if England hosts the WC (unlikely I know). I have some real fond memories of Hillsborough and living literally 3 streets away from the ground.

I said this on a thread the other day, but they're a very similar club to SAFC and one look to Wednesday's current plight should give us a reality check when the SMB goes into meltdown over defeats to the likes of West Brom and the Mags.

And that twat 'Sir' Dave Richards winds up with prominent roles with the FA, UEFA and the Premier League

Good luck to Wednesday.

How can a club that have attracted the crowds Sheff Wed have; obviously paying shit dollar for players (well, you'd imagine so given their league position over the past 10 years!) be in such financial difficulty!

Surely the turnover the crowds and their commercial activity generated less player wages and transfers must come out in profit!

They gambled too highly in the Danny Wilson years.

Wim Jonk- 20k a week in 1999 and they went down.
