Sheffield Wednesday Thread

Apathy or fear mate, don't remember Dave Allen having such an easy ride, windows smashed under The South and protests in the ground.
Difference was, Owls fans had a stake in the club, Owls fans were shareholders, this lunatic has bought the lot.
As we have been told numerous times, the club is his.
Now thats not what I believe, I can't wait for him to go, he can take his psychophants with him, he can take the ground, what he cannot take is the heart and soul of Sheffield Wednesday , the fans, thats what I will believe, and he can't take that from me, but thats what fans fear, because they don't understand he's simply a egotistical bully, and if you let him walk all over you from either apathy or fear, you are fucked.
His last threat , not pay HMRC was called out and he backed down, but not before some fans had started a "Go fund me" page to pay the bill, thats not "Apathy", its sheer bloody fright and its stupid.
Hopefully every fan has a tipping point, ive been there ages, long before this last fiasco, as soon as I saw "CHANSIRI" plastered all over The North, instead of SWFC I knew this bloke for what he was, THATS when we should have stood together, I simply got slated for the stuff I said about it

Got it spot on Dave mate...directly opposite where he sits (When he turns up)
It's like anything m8, when a team is winning fans will accept any shite

10 years old now but this always sums football up for me

Regarding tipping point it's a good shout, for me I don't want to renew next year, but I know the lad will. He doesn't have a lot he looks forward too but going to games is one thing he loves. If he wasn't bothered if I went or not and he went on his own then I think I'd be out next season.

We'll see how it goes.

Nah..I'll renew as long as I can afford it...Its a family thing, Went first with me Grandad, now I'm the Grandad with a son and 2 Grandkids in tow.
Thats what football is, thats what Chansiri can't bloody fathom, and thats why the clubs ours...no matter how much cash he spaffs on shysters...

Who am I kidding, I'll most likely renew too

My biggest beef is I have to do it in January to get the "best" price. I remember when you used to get your season ticket in the summer and there was one price

Our supporters moan about early leavers from the sol
I got back to Wadsley Bridge from yesterday's game at 16-40 and the pub was rammed with even earlier leavers from Hillsborough.

Aye, it was mobbed on Penistone Road after I dropped you off
Course it was...4-0 down...
not surprised it was "mobbed" on Penistone rd...don't blame a one of the f.ookers...
Sunderland have been there haven't they?
The sheer heart dropping crap by getting thrashed and watching away fans celebrating and ripping it?
what on Gods earth is wrong with simply walking out and ignoring the total sheeite?..You have paid your money, you have bought a season ticket to the circus and you decide to leave cos you don't find the clowns as funny as f.ook.
2 bloody decades of this crap...40 odd teams have reached the Prem since The Wednesday left the trap door and still 26k tip up to watch garbage....
Sure Sunderland get more...no bloody argument...but its not shabby...its a testament to the love of a football club....and sometimes, its so disappointing you can't bear to watch the last twitching of a bloody corpse mate...cos it bloody hurts..its sad..so you do what you can to avoid the last breath...
BUT
Those fans will be back next home game, hope in their hearts howling at the moon...

Yea but some left early?

So f***ing what?

It's a game it's a hobby..your team lost 4-0..So what. You paid to attend your hobby.if you can't stand your hobby team losing 4-0 then maybe football isn't the hobby for you.

Yes they will attend again to justify their hobby and get out the house for a few hours win lose or draw.

But to moan and have a feeling to demonstrate and hatred for the owner of the business is when you need to step back look in the mirror and evaluate your life/hobby.

Stop getting upset over something you have no control over.

Don't go next game. Go for a walk something you have control over.

If not seek mental health help if football effects you so much. Seek help.

Fairplay, I wouldn't criticise them at all because as you mentioned, I have experienced the same pain as a Sunderland fan

I think you've been one of the worst ran clubs of the century. I can't think of a club who has consistently underachieved. A sustained period of time with bad owners, bad managers, poor decisions.

I hope things get better but as you know it won't be this season. It needs someone to come in who is competent and who will invest in infrastructure.

Absolute bllx that bit mate.....You enjoy watching your team losing?...Then maybe football isn't the game for you mate
Outside family, its the most important thing in my life...but anyhow..enjoy yer train set...

Yep however bad things got @wednesday1957 , I never walked away from Sunderland, or the Blades, because it was what you did on a Saturday.

Even if you knew a defeat was likely, like in the 15 and 19 point season's in the Premier, you went for pre match pints with your mates hoping this week was where it was different.

Footy is a constant for me whenever life seems to fall apart in other respects, and I value my mates from the match massively.

Nah mate...from all accounts, I should get a hobby, cos because I leave early at 4-0 down...Ive got a "mental health" thingy goin' off
Which rather baffles me a bit, cos Ive been marching outta Hillsborough at 4-0 down a fair few times, but still feel mentally stable the following day.
Now I don't understand what the lad (or Lass) was alluding to with the "Hobby" and the "Mental health" thingy, but a "Hobby" is summat you control yerself isn't it...you know like maybe him and his flower arranging..but you see if he puts his begonia in front of..say his Petunia...he can change it, get it right, and maybe doesn't have 1k Millwall fans rippin' the piss outta his "Daffodil arrangement"...See all I do..is avoid the Millwall fans enjoying themselves and walk out...cos we were 4-0 down....simply like switching the telly off as the mad axeman creeps up behind the woman sorta wotsit...
I'll still watch the telly next day, its not mentaly disabling, it just pisses me off for a week

Clearly you see it so much differently.
A hobby? I always thought a hobby was supposed to be fun.

We are in a similar position to Wednesday, until there is a change in the club ownership it’s only going one way. Turning up with just the loyalty card takes some mental strength.
Don’t you think we all want to get off?
We can‘t, a combination of history, guilt and wanting to support something that means something.

Makes it even harder when you don’t have control on what is going on. Only two options in this go or don’t go. Like being on the firing squad with a choice of a bow an arrow or crossbow.

hey Swindon mate...can't wait to meet you at a match..or maybe the mental istitution we both tip up at....You wandering about mutterin' "Don ogers" and me mumblin' "Waddle".... every 2 minutes ....then soiling meself
F.ooking "Hobby"
"Mental health"
2 decades of absolute crap.."Watch yer mental health"...Yep been watching it for 20 years.,..feel ok...left early against Millwall
"Holy mother of God" screams yer psychiatrist.....Get a hobby.....Its gonna kill you!!!,
"What?"
"The leaving early...you could get run over on the Lepp"
"But surely I could get run over on The Lepp if I left late?"
"You could but you really need to get something less serious..Like a hobby"

"Like Psychiatry?

aye well..you seem to have the choice between 2 teams mate...I've got the ONE
I'll be honest..If I didn't support The Wednesday..I would probably go Sunderland..Dunno why..The fans seem to have the same outlook, gone through the same crap, and have the same sort of black humour during the bad times, added to the fact6 I worked with a few of 'em, best friends with 2 of 'em..but simply can't have 2 clubs..
Who do you support when The Blades are playing Sunderland....?
Sit in the West st stand hoping for a draw?

THATS a f.ooking Hobby mate ;)

You will be back for the next Therapy session mind.
The worst thing of all though is there is no cure. We all appreciate anyone giving us the ”it will come good” but right now we both know this hasn’t bottomed out just yet.
Even got into an argument with a few Swindon fans in the pub yesterday, that is just not me. Reckon it’s an age thing now as the time is slipping away and just want a few decent seasons without the constant ownership shit show unfolding.

The history though gives you that knot in the stomach.

I moved to Sunderland in 1990 and was very much a Blade, going to the odd Sunderland midweek home game if Sheff U weren't playing.

Made good friends up here who were Sunderland fans and gradually went to more games with them. Had season tickets for both Roker Park and Bramall Lane from 92 and was possibly the only fan at the play off semi at the Sol, (which I watched from the away end), who knew he was going to Wembley whoever won.

As I got older I couldn't afford the time to be up and down to Sheffield every match and havent seen them in the flesh other than v Sunderland for about 10 years.

At last season's match, I bumped into an old Blades mate who told me one of the lads from our group had died. It brought back lots of memories and part of me will always be a Blade. But the city is no longer the city I lived in 40 years ago and I don't know the players in the same way I did.

...and as you've seen on here my hatred of Wednesday has diminished to be replaced by a far greater hatred of the murderer worshippers up the road. Loved you beating them in the Cup last year.

Cracking post that.
Went to a funeral Friday of a massive Cobblers fan, found out yesterday a Blues Mate won’t reach Christmas.
Football is the memories it’s a constant and people become family.
