Probably why 6music got created in the first place, just a shame it's trying to aim for the hip radio1/1xtra demographic.we just all get older - probably time for Radio 7

trunk of punk comes to mind.I must say I did grow to quite like Keaveny's shite patter!
Craig Charles is a good replacement though, was canny when he stood in for Lamacq last year and his taste is a lot broader than just the soul and funk stuff he is mostly recognised for.
Not really into his funk & soul stuff but enjoyed going running & his trunk of punk came on.I must say I did grow to quite like Keaveny's shite patter!

But 15 years ago they would be the only mainstream station playing Wu Tan, or Public Enemy etc along side Manic Street Preachers. Now they play Sampa alongside Idles. It's a music station that tries to cover everything. Sounds like you have just got stuck and become a radio X listener. They'd rather play the new single by Sampa the Great than the Manic Street Preachers nowadays. It's a completely different station than it was a few years ago (and not for the better).
Idles are shite but I get your point. Tbf if Keaveny ends up on X I will probably follow him there. It's a good move, but I never got Keaveny to start with.

Leaving 6music. I know he’s a bit marmite, but I like him.
Shaun Keaveny to leave BBC Radio 6 Music
Shaun Keaveny, who currently hosts the 1-4pm weekday show, will be leaving BBC Radio 6 Music later this year. The much loved presenter, known for his acerbic wit and droll delivery, will bid farewell to the network in Septemberwww.bbc.co.uk
Reading maconie on Twitter they asked for their show to be cut by an extra two hours a week - so they must want less air time, not more…Huge ratings opportunity missed not giving RadMac their slot back.

My word, there is only one person worse on 6 Music than the painfully unfunny Keaveny and that's the wheezing Craig Charles. What a shame and a missed opportunity.See Craig Charles is taking the slot.

As much as I like CG’s music, it’s an indication of the stylistic change to 6 music on a weekday. I never listen to it now.
Who'd you have had? What a shame and a missed opportunity.
Chris Hawkins is my fave. Gideon Coe is really good as is Mark Riley - all listenable with good taste.Who'd you have had?
Good call, is he still on before breakfast? I don’t do early myself…Chris Hawkins is my fave.

I’m happy with that, could’ve been far worse.See Craig Charles is taking the slot.

Yeah I was expecting Jamz Supanova and for the station to go full 1XtraI’m happy with that, could’ve been far worse.
You could say the same about Mark Radcliffe and he's probably one of the best on the station.Did not see Craig Charles coming. Strange choice for me, especially as he's strongly associated with Radio 2 as much as 6M. No idea what the target demographic is for 6 nowadays; must have different age groups every 3 hours, listening figures yoyoing up and down.
Two less shows for Hawkins now - he's coming off early mornings on Sat / Sun with Amy Lame in his place. Hardest working bloke in radio has earned those lie ins
