Seems expensive for a volunteering trip. You can do 2 weeks volunteering in Kenya with IVHQ including flights for £800-900. Looks like the biggest costs here will be the excursions.

Pretty sure it's the case with most schemes like that, they use it for materials and stuff. Good to see SAFC continuing with things like this despite our league standing

Kenya deserves any help it can from GB - one of the more shameful bits of our colonial history - castrations, burning, rape - absolutely terrible.

On balance, voluntourism does very little good and helps perpetuate the white saviour myth.

What will the volunteer actually do there? Will he/she be bringing to Kenya skills that are not already locally available? Could the money invested in air tickets, transportation, and accommodation be better spent?

Ultimately, voluntourism is about feelgood PR and social media photos. If you really want to help, fundraise here and donate the money to charities with a good track record - there are many in Kenya.
