Sexual Harrassment

I’ve experienced what might be construed as harassment by a lass from work, outside of work but directly after a work event.

Despite her being in a more senior position than me I didn’t feel threatened by it personally or career wise and just told her to piss off.
Was there any come back from that in the workplace?

Bit about it on the news now, I’m not disputing that it’s an issue for women in the workplace but what I’d like to see, and what would be interesting is how many men have been harassed in the workplace by women.

This is not a woman v man anti feminist thread before anyone starts!

I know I’ve seen stuff in the workplace and on works nights out that would very easily constitute sexual hardassment by women but this goes virtually unreported or unnoticed.

This must happen on a very regular basis. Why is that, should it be highlighted and brought to the media’s attention?

WTF is Hardassment?

Sexual harassment from a woman = free grope, from another man = teeth knocked out.

It's pretty much impossible to get such data because what women (in general) and men (in general) see as behaviour which can be defined sexual harassment is different.

Example recently on The Apprentice. Women contestants asking male models to lift their top up, ogling etc, seemingly fine. If the men had done that, it is more likely to be seen as sexual harassment.

I've just started a new job where I am the only male in our 'cluster' team in the North division. This has been highlighted to me on several occasions by several female colleagues - "ooh, we've heard we've got a man", "we won't bite" etc. Now I have no problem with this, but if that was the only female in a team of men and their gender kept coming up "ooh, we've got a woman" it's more likely to be an issue.

Having said that, you can understand why this is. Women are (generally speaking) more vulnerable than men in many ways (more likely to be raped, usually physically weaker etc) so I don't necessarily blame women for interpreting behaviour differently than a man would.

This is the reason that, like I said, you could never get the stats on this.

Great post. I've experienced some comments as a younger lad that if said to most women would've had hr involved. We're just wired very differently

I used to work on a team with all lasses, they were 10-30 years older than me.

I was certainly treat badly by some of them looking back, if I knew then what I know now I could have kicked up a right fuss but just got on with it, couldn't say if that was due to gender or age though.

None of the harassment was the grab ass variety.

I regularly work with the general public in their homes, if a lass was to try owt like that although I wouldn't be upset or feel abused I would definitely bring it to the attention of my manager, purely so I could protect myself from any allegations that may come my way as a result. I had an incident a while back where a lass(very attractive she was too) was wondering round in nothing but a very small towel and was behaving a bit odd, I had a colleague with me at the time and we were both pleased we were there to back each other up incase she made suggestions we were perving on her.

Jammy Git - gotta watch out fer the song - shudder put a ring on it:lol::lol:

I've had strange women grab my knob a couple of times whilst out on the piss, I thought it was f***ing chos to be honest and wouldn't classify it as a sexual assault.

I understand why some blokes would be offended by it though.

Actually no, no I don't..

Would you have seen it as sexual harassment if it was a bloke who had done it?

Oh there’s no denying the double standard.

It’s just in reality if a lass grabs a lads arse he either won’t care or will get a twinge. Unless she’s ugly, then I’d make a complaint.

Tbf it's not a double standard unless the women concerned are themselves acting inappropriately and then complaining when the same thing happens to them. I would suggest that the majority of women don't act that way and don't agree with acting that way, same as the majority of men. The problem is that in a large number of harassment cases the harasser gets away with it, and not because the person harassed doesn't mind it

This, and it's getting worse.

I've got a gif my mate made of one of our director's grabbing another ones tits and her face was horrified.

He also felt another director up in a taxi in summer.

All married with kids. Both women disgusted.

Nowt's happened like. Totally laughed off. "It's just what he's like"

Yeah a sad letchy twat Who's a wanker and is useless at his job. Yet fuck all.

The bit that confuses me about this BBC survey is that the item resulting in the biggest response from women is 'unwelcome jokes.' This is the only item that has no gender/sexual implication, yet has been thrown in to max out the bar chart and cause added hysteria. Unwelcome jokes......could mean anything?! Now cos you're an unfunny bastard means you are a sexual predator apparently. I'm gunna have to start apologising to a lot of people in the workplace.
