Sexism on PF?

Maybe it’s because someone on here (a woman at that) started a thread called official 2023 womens World Cup thread, and then that’s how it went?
Actually, I called it summat like “the Womens World Cup starts in a fortnight” then it became the official thread and a Mod renamed it.

I don’t mind it being all in one thread. I love going into that thread because I know by and large it will be full of people who genuinely love watching the women’s game and we all share something. It also makes it easier to get rid of the occasional sexist twat who jumps on asking who’s making dinner.

I won’t mind if another thread becomes the final thread. I’ll be too nervous to post in either of them anyway.

The board is absolutely wick with sexism but I don't think this is an example of it.
I agree.

Racism and homophobia are no longer tolerated but but sexism is alive and kicking here.

Often posters are unaware of it. An example would be the fuss about Becs starting the match day threads last season. If Becs was a bloke nobody would give a toss about who started the thread.

It is just an example of men not treating women as equals.

Nah that’s nowt to with sexism and everything to do with Hank being a bit weird about match threads

Absolute chod! Most of the poster call for Becs to do the match thread.

Just don’t open the threads.

Same as the people on here who only follow Sunderland. I assume they aren’t getting stuck into match threads about other teams.

Just don’t see why it’s an issue. Just don’t open the thread.

It doesn’t massively bother me but sometimes it’s not clear a thread or story is related to the women’s game. I’ve opened threads about womens football because of an androgynous name that I assumed was a prospective signing. Or the David Warner example currently on the first page. This thread is another example to be honest.

Wouldn't say its sexism, but certainly think games like this one deserve their own thread. That being said, are match threads actually being created and moved into the women's football thread, or are people just posting the teams and stuff in there initially?

That would be my question.

I am not saying threads haven't been merged as I haven't checked the logs, but I am not aware of any new threads being created and merged and normally there would be a redirect left as evidence of it.

Anyone, including the OP of this thread would be free to create a match thread if that is what they wanted, and I agree a match thread for the England matches would definitely be merited.

Why is the entire women's world Cup assigned to a single thread?

Are we going to do the same with the next men's world Cup?

Surely games like this deserve their own thread. I can understand (sort of) that non league football has a single thread dedicated to it but this is a world Cup ffs.

I'm sure this will get shifted to "that thread" quickly enough.

Don't mind the concept of the single thread. RAWK do it for individual Liverpool players which I thinks is great.
Needs a happy medium I reckon. I can see the appeal of one thread for each player etc, but most people would never bother clicking on it when it gets over a certain size. If a player signs a new contract, has an offer made for them, gets an injury etc, something notable, I think a separate thread is fair enough and makes sure posters can all see the latest news without having to click threads for every player on the off chance.

Think you're looking for something that isn't there or is confined to a small number of people.
