Sexism on PF?

Genuine question - why is Lionesses acceptable but Actress isn't?
I've wondered whether they shout 'man on' to each other during a game?

Regardless of my general lack of interest in the women's game I'd love the lasses to win on Sunday, and it's a bit of a feather in the cap (for those who are bothered!) to have the potential WWC winners at the SoL not long after - while them up the road get to host Saudi Arabian games, I know which I'd prefer ....

Probably. But you can argue that being thick is lack of awareness of what he's saying, so in my eye misogynistic.
Is saying “wad” at every given opportunity misogynistic would you say? Not you, just in general?

I’m female and couldn’t care less about womens football, I have no interest in this wc whatsoever.
I also hate female commentators but have no problem with female pundits. Female voices are not suited to commentating, far too screechy and high pitched. I can’t even listen to a game with female commentary.

Definitely agree with female commentators not being easy on the ear, still haven't met anyone who thinks they are good 🤷‍♂️

Good question. You could argue that we all naturally look at other people and consider whether we find them attractive or not. I suppose how you express that can be questioned. I'd say that for example if I seen a picture of someone that I'm probably never going to meet in real life. However, I wouldn't go around at work and say it about people who I work with. Context I suppose.

Ok I've never posted this before and if people don't believe me I'm not arsed. I know one of the England players, currently injured and not at the tournament. She's quite 'high profile' in terms of the women's game you could say. Most of the things that I see posted on social media and portrayed by the media make me chuckle. This lass and the stories I hear are nowt like what people think. I get the impression that some folk think that the girls are all bra burning leftists that want treating equally to men, that's how the media portray it. I don't to post too much, but one thing the lasses will give the lads a run for their money with is drinking. Oh, and the player I know quickly found out how much of a creep one particular SAFC player was/is.

Give me a female commentator over Jonathan Pearce anytime.

All for the development of the women’s game - I don’t know the extent to which England doing well boosts it globally, but obviously a strong desire to ride the wave of success here will do no end of good and has moved it right into mainstream media. OK some of the media can’t help themselves “first final since 1966” “finally a chance to add a second World Cup” “first ever final on foreign soil” - putting the men and women’s games together as if they had equal history, structures and standing will do more harm than good imo. Why can’t it be seen on its own merit - that would help avoid the unfair comparisons that any sexism is drawn from.

I have no interest whatsoever about women's football. That is not being sexist. It would be sexist however if I added a tagline that I am very interested in women's beach volleyball, so I won't.

You've hit the nail on the head there though by saying this determination to compare it to the mens game is media driven. If anything that provokes more harm than good. Any sports fan that enjoys watching it will simply see it as it's own entity. I enjoy watching all sorts of sports and most of them have male and female categories. I've never once sat and watched women's climbing for example and heard a commentator make a comment that draws a comparison to the men. When you look at the majority of sports they have had men and women competing in their own categories for years and it's never been mentioned. If you look back over the years we've celebrated the achievements of plenty of successful female's in athletics, swimming, cycling and tennis. We've done that simply because they merited it and because they were from our country, not because of their gender. That is equality.

Our lass couldn't be less interested in football at all, but even she says female commentators sound ridiculous.

It's that daft commentary voice they put on.
