Seriously, what is wrong with Messi?

Been watching Messi last 7 years and for t he last 12 months something isn't right. He's still got the pace to go past people, still has moments of sublime skill and still can score some amazing goals. He looks human now Now when he plays I don't expect him to score. He often goes 3 or 4 games without a goal He never smiles, looks disinterested and fades out of games. Has he got some illness we don't know about? what with being sick 5 times on the pitch during games. I don't know the answer but he is just a 6.5 out of 10 player most games now, just doing the minimum to get by. To be fair he is in a poor argentina team, but it was the same when in the Barcelona team. Is he ill ? depressed? or just bored

Burn out.

I thought I noticed he was holding his hamstring at one point - he didn't look up for it really and the Germans were just organised enough to nullify Messi's threat. Mascherano was their best player - but Schweinsteiger was outstanding last night.

Theres nothing 'wrong' with him.

He has just set himself such incredibly high standards that whenever he doesn't show the same game in game out all sorts of things about him start to get questioned.

To be fair he hasn't looked the same player in the last year or so. Obviously he's still a fantastic player as 41 goals in 46 games last year will testify, but his all-round performances haven't been anything like they were a couple of years back.

He is a brilliant footballer but certain players win awards for their name alone like his undeserved player of the tournament award which was a joke

Almost as big a joke as Scotty picking up one of the player of the season awards a few years back.

He won the Adidas sponsored player of the tournament award.

I dont really care who sponsored it.

He absolutely roasted the full back twice, once almost resulting in a goal. He missed a clear chance (but got in there) and his pass for the off side goal was ridiculously good. So, even when he is 'absolutely shite' he has more impact on a game that most.

Messi & Ronaldo are undoubtedly world class, but their respective national sides aren't as good as their club teams.
Personally, in that situation id rather have Ronaldo as I think he can carry a team more but thats just my opinion
Even though I wouldnt say he did, Messi dragged Argentina a lot more than Ronaldo did Portugal.

I'm just glad that the wankathon is now over, at least for the time being, as he's been exposed as a very decent player but not quite the messiah. The way they went on about him on the telly over here was embarrassing, had the cameras on him almost continuously. A play breaks down that he wasn't even involved in and there's a zoom to him to show his reaction. Seemed like every possible chance outside of the game in motion they were zooming in on him, and even worse at the end (when he seemed kinda detached, not jumping for joy of course but seemingly not even that boshed about losing). I just kept wondering why are they keep focusing on that loser, why aren't they showing the Krauts celebrating?
This year's Batistuta - built up to a ridiculous height by the media, exposed as a mortal.
One of the most ridiculous things that I've read on the SMB.
That takes some doing.
