Serious question on onien in injury time

He was completely out of position for their goal but aside from that...

The quicker we get a proper CB in alongside Ballard, the better.
Yes because Ballard has really covered himself in glory for the last two goals we’ve conceded hasn’t he

2 priorities for me in January. CB and CF. Both big and both from Championship clubs. Get them under 25 and they will still fit the model. I’d go for Liam Kitching at Coventry, and Tyrese Campbell at Stoke.
A cdm player has been the priority for the last 2 transfer windows, still waiting

We got away with that one not a thing your captain should be doing . He's a penalty waiting to happen with his rash decisions sometimes could of cost us but it never in the end .
Being the captain he needs to have a word with himself about it
Got away with what? 😂

Under 25 and from rivals come with a hefty tax in transfer fees though
Both struggling clubs who could do with some cash in January, and both players who’ve seen their stock fall in the past 12 months. Maybe not as expensive as you might think. £1-2m each - depends if we’ve got cash like that.

£1-2m each!! Nee chance

It was never a penalty, the WBA player went down like a sack of shit.

Having said that I’m not a fan of O’Nien. He was at fault for their goal IMO. We’re never going to achieve promotion with him in the team.

I’d argue it’s been a CB. With someone alongside Ballard, O9 could be CDM option. If Alese had been fit all season, then I think this may have already happened. I’d much prefer O9 as stand in CDM than stand in CB. And by the way, I think he’s done a top job covering at the back - I’m not a big detractor of his - I just think it’s an obvious area of improvement.

Which is why I said “depends if we’ve got the cash”. Personally I think we’d pay £1-2m for young players with good potential sell on fee, we just won’t do it for >25 year old journeymen.

We bought two in the summer mate, I honestly can't see the recruitment team getting in another, it would be an admission that the 2 brought in are not ready. A cdm would allow more rotation with Ekwah, Neil and Bellingham who all look better playing further up the pitch. O'nien is far better in the cb role than playing in midfield imo.

Don’t think it would be much of an admission to be fair. They were expecting Alese to be fit at the start of the season, so brought 2 in for the future, with a view to playing the odd game. In my view.

Think O9 has the ideal game for a CDM. Tell him to sit in front of the back four like Evans does, and it would give Neil & Bellingham so much more licence to go forward. Ekwah in that role means that Neil ends up playing too deep.

I’m saying there’s no chance that would be the price

Ah ok, sorry, got you wrong. Both players would add a lot to our side / squad. In fact, there are a lot of 21-25 year old Championship players that would add a lot to our side / squad, and be worth more if we finish top 4 or 5 (if we went up they’d be worth £5m minimum - it’s the way of football).

Their player threw himself to the ground....no penalty ...sorry

Also....with maybe the possibility of Alese...theres no other better centre halfs in club.....just because Seelt and Triantis have centre half written on their CV doesnt mean they are currently more reliable or experienced than Onien

The way people go on about O'Nien is vile sometimes, the bloke is Mr Sunderland, loves the club, is always consistent and solid but yet a select few people blame him for everything. He had another good game today but unfortunately because someone dropped their Bovril at half time it's O9s fault.
