Remarkable this was covered up for so long. Corruption must be rife in the police force. Lock him up and throw away the key

This is a very difficult line for the media for all the reasons she explains in that thread. However, IMHO and after consultation with the victims, full detail should be given. I don't know what it's going to take to make the criminal justice establishment, and wider society, wake up to the horror of the violence that some men dole out to women, and that it's more or less possible to rape with impunity in this country, but maybe showing exactly what these crimes involve will go some way to doing that. Separately I listened today to how Emmett Till's mother insisted his casket was open so that the world could see exactly what a lynching involved, and many argue that in doing so she helped kick off the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Sadly, sometimes we need to show people the full nature of the horror in order to get the change that we so badly need.
More powerful quotes from the sentencing remarks of the judge:
"The malign influence of men like you in positions of power stands in the way of a revolution of women’s dignity."
"The criminality you have admitted may be called an unrestrained campaign of rape and abuse of women, it could be described as the work of a serial rapist but it may not be possible to encapsulate succinctly the broad devastation you have caused through sexual violence and exploitation, all the time carrying the unique and defining office of a police constable."
Considering his age but if he had been younger....In cases like this where the person is in a position of trust then the sentence should be longer. I think thirty years is about right as long as he does that time.
Isn't it rare for somebody to get more than 30 years for a non murder crime, regardless of their age? I'm surprised and pleased he got that, I was expecting about twenty. It's renewed my faith in our justice system which has so many times in the past given sentences that didn't reflect the crime.Considering his age but if he had been younger....
Alright Paul (sic)Same name as my brother, not him though.
He didn't even enter an early guilty plea, he only pled guilty in the last couple of months.I've just been watching it there on sky news. 30 years did seem lenient to me however sentencing guidelines made it so that a third was knocked off for an early guilty plea, otherwise it would've been around 48.
I wonder if senior police have ever considered that if they had the publics trust and help, their jobs and success rates would be higher.
All those years working with "Dave the serial rapist". How do they sleep at night ?
would rather see blokes like this get repeated beatings and living in fear of the next one. can't see it happening like as said above imagine hell do himself in at first opportunity.Someone will get at him aswell, hopefully that sees him off
The third off was only on 1 charge, I think he got 20% off the rest.He didn't even enter an early guilty plea, he only pled guilty in the last couple of months.
From the sentencing remarks:-
'You pleaded not guilty to all charges when arraigned at hearings between December 2021 and December 2022. You changed your pleas in December 2022 and January this year.'
Bastard should never see light of day again, he has ruined so many peoples lives.

The chances of him walking out of prison are slim. If he does walk out of prison he'll be too frail to do anything other than exist.
The biggest issue is why the met keeps allowing this stuff to happen.
There should be internal monitoring of all officers at all times from recruitment to retirement.
Aye I just read that, guilty plea discount of 20% applied. Only good thing he done not making them give evidence in court. The plea despite being entered late prevented the victims from having the ordeal of reliving their situation in court.
Public trust, any time the police are berated for being corrupt there's a massive uproar from people who trust them. It goes right to the top, cover ups are rife in all Police forces as is corruption. The chances of him walking out of prison are slim.
