Sentence of David Carrick.

Just watched the sentencing live.

It is my opinion that the sentence was very lenient with a tariff of 30 years.
That may sound harsh however this equates to a year per life sentence.
The judge didn’t think that the case was extraordinary to give a whole life sentence however taking into account his role in public office he should have been given a whole tariff.

I have no doubt he will never see the light of day again, eventually taking his own life in prison however I would have like to have seen a stronger response.

On BBC a separate note the protestor at the court protesting about makecagression towards females being extremely aggressive in his outbursts taking his trousers off?? Bizarre.

I doubt there has ever been a whole life term given for non murder cases. Not saying I wouldn’t agree with it for him but they are usually reserved for the worst of the worst murders or multiple murders so not sure his crimes, whilst horrific, would achieve the threshold.

I've just been watching it there on sky news. 30 years did seem lenient to me however sentencing guidelines made it so that a third was knocked off for an early guilty plea, otherwise it would've been around 48.

Whole life orders are reserved for only ‘the most serious’ murders in the sentencing council guidelines

Not exactly correct but I suspect that no other crime has reached the threshold. It was considered in this case but rejected due to appeals against others. The strap line is,

“ whole-life order is ‘an extreme sentence for an extreme level of offending”.

I’m sure there are a lot more to compare, however Ian Huntley, potentially one of the more extreme cases in the country and laws and the system especially working with children were completely revamped received a 40 year recommendation.

As I stated though, he won’t see day light again.
mad isnt it?
alreet dave, what ya been up to this weekend?
being a bastard.
nee bother, glad you had a good un.

Dave the bastard was his name.😱😱

David Carrick: ‘Bastard Dave’ sacked from Met police after reign of terror

He received 36 life sentences.
He is serving less than a year for each crime. I’m sure I wouldn’t be happy if I was the victim.
It’s totality and what’s deemed as proportionate . We don’t throw away the key . I’d have no problem with him getting a whole life term but we tend to reserve it for the most serious murderers. And in that context it’s not lenient
