Sensible views on the derby game this weekend please

Since we're doing sensible can the Mags on here tell me if they're feeling more or less confident for the derby since we've replaced O'Neill with DiCanio?

dreading it

I hate this fixture (both home and away).
Dont see anything other than an NUFC victory
But whatever the result, we need to immediately put it behind us and concentrate on the next game "Six Cup Finals" and all that!

There is little between the teams (the table and results to date prove that).

We'll have more fight in our bellies because of PDC's arrival and we need the points (realistically they're safe now). Plus they have played a lot of games and won't have Cisse (us not having Fletch is nowhere near as big a disadvantage).

Victory by two goals to us - probably 1-3.

Why not - he isnt injured or banned - unless you can see the future?

Slightly less confident, not so much because of DiCanio but because O'Neill has gone.

Got tbh I've mixed feelings ahead of Sunday. Part of me is optimistic after the first half at Chelsea and then part of me remembers how utter shit we can be at times.

I'd happily take a bore 0-0 draw.

If we win it'll be by a single goal. Remember, he's Paolo di Canio - Head Coach not Paolo di Canio - Magician.

People who think the Mags will ease up now that their 95% safe are a bit mad! Make no mistake, they'll love to put another nail in our coffin. And if they get a good result on Thursday, their confidence will be sky high.

I'm hoping the game against Benfica goes to extra time and takes it all out of them. Would love a 3-1 win, but think it'll be 2-2.

Less but not by any reason of other than motivation instilled in the players.

Think the result may depend on what happens on Thursday with us. Can't see you winning though.

If you sit back and look at it logically, the Mags are clear favourites. Most derby games are won and lost in midfield, and theirs, on paper at least, pisses on ours. They also have a goal threat, whereas we have one of the bluntest attacks in the league. Only chance we have is if we can make it a scrappy game.

If we can press like we did against Chelsea for 90mins, rather then just 45mins, we might have a chance. However, I do worry about our midfield.

We NEED a win. Why would any sunderland supporter be happy with a point?

Personally I expect us to lose or get a draw but I certainly wouldn't be happy with it.

Our attacking play is about as potent as a a bear trying to climb into a rabbits arse. I just hope this changes quick because we are running out of games.

And you wonder why people would be happy with a draw?
