Sensible views on the derby game this weekend please

I cant see us winning, we have no midfield and they have a better one.

Will Johnson, Seb, NDyie and Colback suddenly become an amazing unit and lead us to victory? I dont think so.

Newcastle under Pardew turn up in derby matches, and whilst I dont expect us to bottle it we just dont create chances.

Yes things can happen on the day, early goals, sendings off, injuries and they have a tough game on Thursday but that (if they win) could also count in the twats favour.

How often have we been hopeful due to euro games by others and still weve been outran/outplayed? Sincerely hope the players dont think they have any advantage.

Still I can see a 1-1 but if we nick it I'll tear my cock off. Someone mentioned Cisse out? Whys that? (im on my hols at mo)

too close to call imo, could be 0-0 or 1-1

Hopefully Mags will have a very tough game on Thursday, ideally extra time and penalties before going out after 3 hours of sudden death

What a remarkably well behaved and grown up thread

Perhaps everyone should write the word 'sensible' into their thread titles from now on.

I reckon we'll (nufc) win. Not confident, can't predict a scoreline, I just think we have more in our locker, so to speak.

The Benfica game could have a positive or negative effect really. We could be knackered by Sunday but the extra games might mean our fitness levels are higher than average.

If we can reproduce the form of our first 45 minutes against a vastly superior Chelsea ( ie superior to NUFC in every department ) then I think we'll have too much for a NUFC side who will be missing their best 2 players ( I expect ben arfa and colo to be out ).
Can anyone confirm that Cabaye is missing this game also?
PdC understands as well as anyone in Football the passions behind a local derby, and he'll be firing the lads up unlike any manager we've ever had.
Wickham will be full of himself after a good game against 2 very good Chelsea CB's.
See and AJ looked different class now that they are allowed to play football again and I can see NUFC committing a few fouls to keep control of them.
Add another week of a PdC regimen and I'm feeling very positive for the first time in over year.

draw is the best we can hope for , but it will probably be a loss

sad as we actually need three points and despite them only being a couple of places higher than us , we are miles behind in reality

There is little between the teams (the table and results to date prove that).

We'll have more fight in our bellies because of PDC's arrival and we need the points (realistically they're safe now). Plus they have played a lot of games and won't have Cisse (us not having Fletch is nowhere near as big a disadvantage).

Victory by two goals to us - probably 1-3.

:?::?:

1-1

Early goal for us (Johnson), equaliser (Cisse) at start of second half.
We will miss a pen (Larsson) and they will have a goal incorrectly disallowed in the final minute (Cisse)

I just can't see where our goals are going to come from, in this game and the other 5 to be honest. I'd take a draw, and I'm usually very optimistic about the derby!

i like

Optimistic? You must spend an awful lot of time being wrong then.

Can't argue with that! Maybe optimistic is the wrong word, but I always feel we have a chance against them if we have a go, but this time I can see possession and so on but the end result is a worry...

All these people saying they'd be happy with a draw, usually in an away derby I'd be able to agree. But with the position we're in, draws just aren't good enough, we need to win. That said, I'm not sure we will.

We'll probably start well like we did against Chelsea and then fade away as tired legs and tired minds start to drop deep. If we don't score in the first half then I fear for us, an early goal could do wonders for us though, we have to come out of the blocks flying.

Saying that I still think we'll concede; 1-1 seems a logical prediction.

That's the spirit lad.

Sick of hearing all this 'Newcastle have a world class midfield' and they 'will dominate us' bollocks - they've been shite all season and a few flukey home wins have glossed over this.

I'm a bit more optimistic than i was.

Apparently they were dropping like flies toward the end of the game on sunday so hopefully after Benfica again on thursday their legs will be shot.

Given that extra bit of impetus Di Canio seems to have brought in i'm going for a 1-0 to us.
