Sell before buy then ...

so what happened to the ususal suspects on here who said getting rid of Catts could sign 5 league one players?

Ah so that was total bull shit

the aim should not be to get our wage bill down to £2k a player like

if the aim is to simply live within our means 100% then we are fucked

 mate

they are mid table in the premier league

we just finished 5th in league one and now have to sell before we can buy, despite just getting rid of one of our best players

the situations couldn't be more different

I'm talking about overreacting to every little thing, its pathetic

and BTW Cattermole wanted to leave also

All depends on Cardiff, They want him if Etheridge goes but thats being held up for the time being.
That doesn't answer the question mate. Are we actively trying to sell him or have just said to Cardiff because they've asked that if they pay the right price they can have him..... same as any player at most clubs presumably.

Apologies if it's been mentioned already or I've interpreted comments wrong from the recent past, but didn't Stewart Donald say all is fine financially and that we can fund the squad as it is financially , despite not getting promoted. This being down to the parachute payment, but he emphasised we must get out this time or that will change.

Now it appears we need to sell or get rid first. Cattermole obviously frees up big money wage wise, but we still need to get rid ? Lowering the quality isn't going to get us out of this league. We need league one level ''marquee'' players or inspired loans.

He did. And Methven has repeated that as well. Ross hasn't contradicted that at all. He simply wants a smaller but better squad. Simple.

A senior squad that currently sits at 21 and a stated aim of having a squad of 20. We’re attempting to sign that Dobson lad so it’s understandable that we don’t want to allow the squad to inflate too much. It’s a nervy time for the fans but its probably the right thing to do.
I'd say it's worrying as I have zero to no faith in the people in charge of recruitment to build a good balanced squad of 20 players.

That's a different question. Do I trust the club to get the recruitment spot on.... I'm not sure.

But do I think keeping the squad smaller and trying to add quality is the right approach. I'm willing to give them a chance on the basis that last summer was absolute chaos.

EDIT: Mind this summer could become chaotic if we don't get a move on. Hopefully there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than we're aware of though.

I fully expect them to get it wrong tbh. I know that's negative but it's how I genuinely feel.

We are a 3rd division club at the moment. Selling before we buy is sensible business. We were in debt up to our eyeballs and in danger of going under.

I share those worries marra. However, the concrete stuff we’ve seen so far is encouraging at least. The right back and Dobson are both mobile and won’t get bullied. They also appear to have decent quality for the level. Ross has stated he wants to add pace and strength as well as addressing our defensive quality. All the right reads. Considering we tend to keep things close to our chests I’m encouraged thus far - but remain very cautious until we progress a little further. If we go out and spadge a load of cash on Marquis I’ll worry a bit more, for sure.

I wouldn't be looking at signing a centre forward tbh. We have two lads with good pedigree at this level. We need to be getting players in to get the best out of them.

Were being the massive word there, I’d like the owners to dip their hands in the pockets abit mind.
